Introduction
TANCET is a state level common entrance examination for the students aiming to study M.Tech , M.E. , M.Plan, M.Arch , MCA and MBA courses in Tamil Nadu. The exam is conducted once every year. Students taking this test can apply to both Government and Non- Government Institutes in the state of Tamil Nadu. The official notification for TANCET 2020 exam is expected to be available from the 2nd week of April 2020.

TANCET 2020 Exam Date
Exam date for TANCET 2020 has not been declared yet, however, it will tentatively be conducted in the 3rd week of May 2020.
Mode of Answering
TANCET shall be conducted through offline mode of examination i.e OMR sheets will be used to report answers.
Medium of Examination
TANCET is conducted across the country and the only medium for examination is English.
TANCET Eligibility Criteria
Following criteria must be fulfilled in order to be considered eligible for TANCET:
Domicile
Candidates applying for TANCET must be a resident of Tamil Nadu , however other state students are allowed to apply .
Educational qualification
Students applying for this exam must have a bachelor’s degree in their respective stream for courses like M.Tech or any other technical course.
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
For MBA aspirants, a degree of minimum 03 years must have been acquired by the candidate.
Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
Students appearing for MCA must possess a bachelor’s degree with at least 45% marks. Students who are appearing for MCA must have mathematics at 10+2 level .
M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan
Students aspiring to register themselves in the stream of M.Tech / M.Arch/M.Plan, must have a bachelor’s degree with at least 45% marks.
Final year Candidate
Students applying for TANCET , can drop their application even when they are in their current final year .
How to Apply for TANCET 2020 ?
TANCET 2020 application portal are yet to begin functioning.
Based on previous year’s schedule, TANCET registration 2020 is expected to begin from the 2nd week of April 2020.
It should be noted that TANCET 2020 application form will only be available through the official website.
Application Fee
The application fee for both male and female belonging to the General category is INR 500 and for the SC/ST/SCA is INR 250.

Candidates can pay the TANCET application fee through either of the following mode:
- Credit/debit cards,
- Internet Banking.
No other mode of payment will be accepted.

- Passport-sized colored photograph – 20kb-30kb in size.

Following steps form the TANCET registration process for 2020:
- New User Registration,

- Uploading photograph,
- Payment of application fee.
TANCET Hall Ticket
TANCET Admit Card 2020 will be available on the official website from the 1st week of May 2020 till the exam day. Admit cards will be issued to only those candidates who have successfully done the entire procedure.
Candidates need to download and print the admit card and paste one passport size photo on the admit card. Student must keep their Hall Ticket even after the exam is over. If a student loses his/her admit card, he /she can request for a new one admit card by paying INR 100 through demand draft .
TANCET Exam Pattern
The exam pattern followed for TANCET 2020 has been concluded in the following points:
- Mode of exam: The mode for exam is offline i.e. answers are reported through OMR sheets.
- Exam Duration: The exam is taken for a duration of 120 minutes or 2-hours.
- Number of questions: The total number of questions for MBA/MCA is 100 and for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan is 115.
- Marking Scheme: 1 marks is rewarded for each correct answer while 1/3 mark is deducted for each wrong answer.

TANCET 2020 Results
TANCET 2020 results will be declared in the 2nd week of June 2020.
Candidates can check their result from the official website using their email-ID and password. This scorecard can be used for only a single year. The scorecard / marksheet must be downloaded within 10 days of the result declaration.
Candidates should keep their scorecard till the end of the entire admission process and they can apply for all State/UTs/University with this scorecard .
Candidates if loss their score card can request for another one by paying INR 100 through Demand Draft.
TANCET Counselling
The TANCET 2020 counselling process will be conducted from 1st week of June 2020. The counselling process will be in offline mode only. Candidates can apply in both online or offline mode by paying a counselling fee of INR 500.
In case of online TANCET 2020 counselling, application must be printed from the official website. The applicants must send the completed TANCET 2020 counselling form along with DD to:

Question: How long is TANCET score valid?
Answer: TANCET score is valid for 1 year from the date of result declaration.
Question: Is there separate entrance exam for Anna University?
Answer: NO. The entrance exam for all PG courses (affiliated to Anna University) is TANCET.
Question: What if I have a valid GATE score card, should I have to fill the TANCET application form for Anna University?
Answer: There are two ways of entering Anna University for a M.E degree. One is through TANCET and the other is through GATE.
