Introduction


Common management admission test (CMAT) is a national level management entrance examination for admission to various management institutions located in India. Before 2019, the exam was conducted by AICTE, however, with the establishment of NTA, the responsibility was shifted to the latter. By clearing NTA CMAT 2020, the candidates become eligible to apply for PGDM, MBA, PGCM & Executive PGDM in AICTE recognized institutes. The official notification for NTA CMAT 2022 is has been released on 16 February 2022.

As of CMAT- 2021, a total number of 71490 candidates were registered for this examination. 52327 candidates appeared for the examination. The Examination was conducted in 153 Cities in 278 Centres.

Mode of Examination


The exam will be conducted in online mode (computer-based test), comprising of objective type questions.

Medium of Examination


The examination will be conducted in English only.

NTA CMAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria


Nationality

The applying candidate must be an Indian citizen.

Educational Qualification

A CMAT aspirant must be a Graduate in any discipline from a recognized university/institute.

Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for 2022-24 can also apply for CMAT 2022 exam.

Age Limit

There is no age limit.

  • Scanned Passport Size Photograph with white background. (Size – 10 kb to 200 kb).
  • Scanned Signature with clear white background. (Size- less than 30 kb).

Application Procedure


The complete application procedure for CMAT 2022 is divided into 6 stages.

  • Key in desired information for registration.
  • On successful registration, the candidates will receive login details for the official portal of NTA CMAT 2022
  • Payment of Application Fee.
  • Uploading documents.
  • Download, save and print a copy of Confirmation Page of the Application Form (whichwould be downloadable only after successful remittance of fee) for future reference.

Admit Card


NTA CMAT Admit Card 2022 download date will be announced later.

The admit card will be made available on the official website through online mode only. Candidates are required to download and take a print of their admit card as it will not be send via post.

Candidates, who fail to enter the Examination Hall with their Admit Card, will not be allowed to sit for the exam under any circumstance.

NTA CMAT 2022 Exam Pattern


The CMAT exam pattern can be described as follows:

Mode of exam

The exam will be conducted in online mode.  

Exam Duration

The candidates get 180 minutes (3 hours) to answer the questions.

Type of Questions

There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

Total Marks

 400 marks will be allotted totally

Total Number of Questions

There will be a total of 100 questions divided among 5 sections:

  • Quantitative techniques and data interpretation,
  • Logical Reasoning,
  • Language comprehension and
  • General awareness
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Optional)

Marking Scheme

+4 marks will be allotted for each correct answer and1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Un-answered/un-attempted will be given no marks.

CMAT Results 2022


The NTA CMAT result date will be announced later. Candidates will be able to check the results on the official website.

CMAT Counseling


Unlike other mammoth entrance exams, CMAT doesn’t have a common counseling (central counseling) conducted by the NTA. Every institute has its own admission criteria and a separate admission process.

NTA CMAT counseling season dates will be notified later with institutes announcing their own application forms. The applicants have to register themselves on the particular institution website for taking part in the admission process.

Fortunately, much like other management colleges, the admission to CMAT accepting institutes also include following steps:

  • Registering for colleges based on CMAT scores
  • Group Discussion (GD)
  • Writing Ability Test (WAT)
  • Personal Interviews (PI).

However, the process may differ from institute to institute.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)


Question: How many candidates appeared for NTA CMAT 2019?

Answer: In 2019, around 65k student registered for the national-level exam, however, only 60k actually took the exam.

Question: How many times CMAT held in a year?

Answer: From academic year 2016-17 onwards, the CMAT exam is being conducted only once a year

Question: What is a good score in CMAT 2019?

Answer: The CMAT 2019 score for 100 percentile has shot up to 372 total marks out of 400. The CMAT 2019 score cut off for 99 percentile has also gone up to 310 marks.

Question: Is CMAT easy compared to CAT?

Answer: Yes. CMAT is easier compared to Common admission test.
