Introduction

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research or PGIMER, Chandigarh organizes the PGIMER entrance exam every year for admission to its post-graduate programs such as MD and MS. PGIMER is conducted twice a year in January and July. PGIMER 2018 official notification was published on 2nd October 2017 for January Session. For PGIMER 2018 July session, notifications will be released in March 2018.

PGIMER 2018 Important Dates

PGIMER 2018 Exam Date

The entrance test dates for the July 2018 session of PGIMER are as follows:

Medium of Examination

PGIMER MD/MS entrance exam will be conducted in ENGLISH only. 

Mode of Examination

PGIMER 2018 shall be a Pen and Paper Based Test and thus shall be conducted offline. 

Number of Available Seats

There is a reservation of 5% seats in MD/MS for those candidates who have actually worked or are working in rural areas with a population of less than 5000 for a period of minimum 2 years.

PGIMER 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Qualifying Exam

• For MD/MS, the candidate must have completed his/her MBBS or an equivalent degree recognized by the Medical Council of India.

• For MDS, the candidate must have completed his/her BDS Degree from Panjab University, recognized by the Dental Council of India.

• For DM, the candidate must have completed his/her MD/MS from an institute recognized by the Medical Council of India.

Internship

• Candidates who have completed or are due to complete their one-year rotatory internship training on or before 31^st December/30^thJune for the January and July session respectively are eligible for PGIMER entrance test.

• The candidate must be registered with the Central/State Medical Registration Council. 

PGIMER 2018 Exam Pattern

For MD/MS

PGIMER 2018 for MD/MS will be of 3 hours and shall consist of 250 objective-type questions (MCQs). Questions will be drawn from following subjects:

Negative marking shall apply for incorrect answers. 

For DM/M.Ch. Courses

PGIMER 2018 for DM/M.Ch. will be of 1.5 hours and shall consist of 100 objective-type questions (MCQs). Negative marking shall apply for incorrect answers.

For MDS Course

PGIMER 2018 for MDS will be of 1.5 hours and shall consist of 100 objective-type questions (MCQs). Negative marking shall apply for incorrect answers. 

How to Apply for PGIMER 2018?

The PGIMER 2018 July Session application for MD/MS are over.

For M.Ch/MHA/DM/MDS, the PGIMER 2018 (July Session) application forms are currently available. Please visit PGIMER application portal to apply.

Portal will close on 30th April 2018.

Application Fee

The application fee for PGIMER 2018 January & July Session shall be Rs. 1000 for General/OBC category students and Rs. 800 for SC/ST students.

The fee has to be paid through SBI Bank Challan.

Documents to be Uploaded

• Photograph – JPEG format; Max Size: 100 KB.
• Signature – JPEG format; Max Size: 100KB.
• Internship Certificate – PDF format; Max Size: 1 MB.
• Category Certificate – PDF format; Max Size: 1 MB.

Registration Procedure

• The candidates can get the PGIMER 2018 prospectus from the link http://pgimeradmissions.net.in/mdms_j18/brochure.aspx

• The candidates have to register with their name, parents’ names, mobile number, email ID etc. after which they get the login ID and password.

• After the login ID and password are issued, the candidates have to fill the application form online with their academic and medical registration details.

• The scanned images of photograph and signature have to be uploaded in JPEG format. The size of the images should not exceed 100KB. The internship certificate and category certificate too need to be uploaded in PDF format.

• The candidates are required to keep the application number and password safely for future use.

PGIMER 2018 Syllabus

All the subjects that are taught during MBBS are tested in PGIMER. The various subjects that are part of the exam syllabus are Medicine and Surgery, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, ENT, Applied Biochemistry, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Anatomy, Forensic Medicine, Dermatology, Anaesthesia, Physiology, Psychiatry, Social and Preventive Medicine, Radio-diagnosis and Radiotherapy . It is advised to revise all these subjects thoroughly for PGIMER.

PGIMER 2018 Test Centers

PGIMER 2018 theory exam will be held across various centers in Chandigarh and the Practical/Clinical exam shall be held in the concerned department itself.

PGIMER 2018 Admit Card

PGIMER 2018 admit card should be available in November 2017 for the January session and in April 2018 for the July session. The admit cards can be downloaded from the official website.

The admit card shall have all the candidate details like the candidate name, exam center, roll number, exam date and time etc. The admit card should be kept safely till the counseling round is over.

PGIMER 2018 Results

For PGIMER 2018 (July Session), the results for MD/MS will be published on 14th May 2018, MDS and House job results will be published on 4th May 2018 and M.Ch/DM results will be out on 18th May 2018.

PGIMER 2018  (Jan Session) M.D/M.S results have been declared. Follow http://pgimer.edu.in/PGIMER_PORTAL/PGIMERPORTAL/Results/ResultQuery.jsp?170 to check your result.

The results can be accessed from the official website. As per their rank, candidates will be further called for the counselling round.

PGIMER 2018 Answer Key

PGIMER does not publish the answer key for the examination. The results are announced the very next day of the exam.

PGIMER 2018 Counselling

During the counselling round of PGIMER 2018, candidates have to be physically present at the venue along with the documents given below. Seats shall be allotted according to the candidate’s rank and the availability of seats. Document verification is also done at this stage. Candidates have to carry the following documents for the counselling round:

• Degree Certificate
• 10^th Certificate or its equivalent
• Migration Certificate
• Character Certificate
• Certificate of Internship
• Caste Certificate
• Rural Certificate
• 3 Copies of latest passport size photograph
