Introduction


Management Aptitude Test or MAT is a national-level management entrance examination used as an eligibility criterion by a large number of management institutes in India for MBA admissions. It is being administered since 1988 giving aspirants access to more than 600 B-schools across India. The test is conducted by AIMA (All India Management Association) four times in a calendar year – February, May, September, and December.

The application window for MAT 2018 (May session) is open now. The application process will be online.

MAT exam along with Common admission test (CAT) and AICTE conducted CMAT, form the major management entrance exams in India.

Medium of Examination


The examination shall be conducted in ENGLISH only.

Mode of Answering


MAT will be conducted in both ONLINE (Paper-Based Test or PBT) and OFFLINE (Computer-Based Test or CBT) modes.

MAT 2018 Exam Date


MAT 2018 (May Session), both CBT & PBT will be held on 20th May 2018.

MAT (Sept Session) shall take place in the 2nd week of Sept 2018.

Similarly, MAT (December Session) will be conducted in the 1st week of Dec 2018.

MAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria


Educational Qualifications

Candidates must have completed graduation or equivalent qualifying examination to be eligible for MAT 2018. The graduation can be completed in any stream.

Candidates appearing for their final year examination in graduation are also eligible to apply.

Age Limit

There is no upper age limit or cap on the number of attempts for MAT exam. 

MAT 2018 Exam Pattern


MAT 2018 (all sessions) shall be 2.5 hours long tests. Candidates can either choose computer-based test (CBT) / Pen-Paper test (PBT) or both of CBT and PBT test.

The test will comprise of total 200 questions each carrying 1 markThe various sections in MAT 2018 are as follows:

How to Apply for MAT 2018?


Application portal for PBT registrations have closed on 14th May 2018.

Only ONLINE applications will be available for MAT 2018 (all sessions).

MAT 2018 Application Fee


The application fee for MAT exam is Rs. 1550 for candidates taking MAT (May Session) through CBT or PBT while it is ₹2,650 for applicants taking both CBT and PBT.

The application fee is to be paid through:

  1. Net banking or,
  2. Credit card or debit card or,
  3. Demand draft.

The DD has to be made in favor of All India Management Association payable at New Delhi.

In the case of DD, the printed application form has to be sent along with it.

Photograph and Signature Specifications


  • Signature – JPEG format; 5-50 KB in size.
  • Photograph – JPEG format; 5-50 KB in size.

Registration Procedure


  1. To register, the candidate has to fill the basic details like Name, Contact Number, Email ID, Date of Birth etc. A confirmation email would be sent by AIMA to the registered email ID.
  1. In the next stage, the candidates need to enter other personal details in the form. The candidates can save those details and edit them later anytime before making the payment.
  1. The candidates need to upload photograph and signature in the given format and size in the next stage. This is optional. In case the photograph and signature are not uploaded by the candidate, he/she has to print the application form and paste the photograph and sign the form. The form then needs to be sent to AIMA, New Delhi.
  1. The last stage needs the candidate to pay the application fee. The fee can be made offline or online, as mentioned earlier. In the case of offline payment by DD, the DD needs to be sent along with the form to AIMA.

Candidates who have either paid the fees through demand draft or not uploaded their photograph/signature online need to send the application to the following address by the 4th week of January 2018:

MAT 2018 Syllabus


All the sections have to be covered for scoring well in MAT 2018. The subjects tested in MAT are Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, and Indian and Global Environment.

MAT 2018 Admit Card


Admit Cards for MAT 2018 (May Session) are available for PBT exam to to be held on 20th May. Visit https://mat.aima.in/may18/card_login to download your card.

Different admit cards are generated for PBT and CBT. The admit card contains the candidate’s name, roll number, the date and time of test and the venue address. In the case of CBT, the candidate has to adhere to the date and time of the slot allotted to him/her mentioned in the admit card.

MAT 2018 Answer Key


The answer key shall be published online after some weeks of the examination.

The MAT Score Card is published online on the AIMA website. It is also sent to the candidates through post. It remains valid for one year.
