Introduction


JEE Main 2018 is the premier engineering entrance examination, conducted in India for admission to B.E./B.Tech/B.Arch courses.  Candidates can gain admission into the NITs, IITs and various other engineering institutes on the basis of their JEE Main 2018 results. Further, those who qualify the JEE main examination are considered eligible for the JEE Advanced exam as well. JEE Main 2018 application portal will go online from 1st December 2018.

JEE Main 2018 Exam Date


As per media reports, JEE Main exam 2018 Offline examination will be conducted on 8th April 2018 and the online examination will be conducted in the 15th & 16th April 2018.

Mode of Answering


The exam will be conducted in OFFLINE (Pen/Paper-based) as well as ONLINE (Computer-based test) modes. Only objective (MCQ) type questions will be asked.

Medium of Examination


Languages available for JEE Main question papers will be English and Hindi.

However, in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra regions, the question papers are available in English, Hindi, and Gujarati.

Eligibility Criteria


Candidates applying for JEE Main Exam must have scored at least 75% marks in 12th examination. The qualifying marks for SC/STs should be 65%.

All candidates who wish to apply for JEE Main 2018 need to possess an Aadhar Card issued by UIDAI.

How to Apply for JEE Main 2018?


JEE Main 2018 application forms are closed for corrections now. 

JEE Main 2018 registration portal is closed now. 

JEE Main application form will be available in online mode on the official website of JEE.

Application Fee


JEE Main 2018 application fee can be paid via both ONLINE and OFFLINE modes. The criteria of the fee depend upon the choice of course and the gender of the candidate.

Documents Required

In order to apply for JEE, candidates must keep the following things ready.

  • Scanned Photograph.
  • Scanned Signature.
  • Aadhar Card.

JEE Main 2018 Hall Ticket


The JEE Main 2018 hall ticket has been issued on 12th March 2018.

Visit the link https://jeemain.nic.in/JeeMainApp/Root/LoginPage.aspx to download the admit card.

The card will be released online only on the official website. The admit card will contain all the necessary details such as candidate name, roll number, exam center, etc.

JEE Main 2018 Exam Pattern


JEE Main Exam 2018 will be a 3-hour long test.

There are two paper namely, Paper 1 (for engineering courses) and Paper 2 (for architecture courses).

The candidates can opt for the one which suits their course choice.

Paper I

Paper I is meant for engineering entrance only. JEE Main 2018 paper I will consist of 90 objective type questions from following 3 subjects:

  1. Chemistry – 30Qs
  2. Physics – 30Qs
  3. Mathematics – 30Qs.

For every correct answer, the candidate will score 4 marks and will lose 1 mark for every incorrect answer. Therefore, Paper I of JEE Main 2018 will carry 360 marks in total.

Paper II

Paper II of JEE Main 2018 is meant only for Architecture admissions.

A total of 82 questions from following 3 subjects will be presented:

  1. Mathematics – 30Qs.
  2. Aptitude test – 50Qs.
  3. Drawing test – 2Qs.

Every correct answer will result add 4 marks to candidate’s total score while a wrong answer will result in a deduction of 1 mark.

Syllabus


JEE Main syllabus differs for different courses. For paper 1 the syllabus will cover the topics already taught in the 11th and 12th grade of CBSE. As for Paper -2, the syllabus can be downloaded from the official site.

JEE Main 2018 Answer Key


The JEE Main 2018 Answer Key for both the papers has been published by CBSE. Please visit https://jeemain.nic.in/webinfo/Public/Home.aspx to download the same. The answer key will help students in cross-checking their answers. It will help them gain a rough idea of their score in the main examination.

Results


JEE Main 2018 results have been announced on the 30th April 2018 and can be checked online through the official website.

After the results have been announced, a merit list will be prepared on the basis of the JEE Main score. Based upon their results, candidates can appear in JEE Advanced.

Counselling


The JEE Main counselling will be conducted centrally for admission to NITs/IITs/CFTIs by JoSAA(Joint Seat Allocation Authority) and CSAB. Admissions will be provided to the candidates based on their All India Rank. In order to get the seat, it is compulsory for all the students to take part in the counseling and seat allocation processes. Various colleges offer admission based on the results of JEE Main itself, for such colleges, it is essential that the student should apply for state counseling.
