Introduction
IIM Ranchi is the ninth IIM to be established by the Government of India for satisfying the needs of higher education in the field of management for students in India. The institute was established in the year 2010, and has been doing reasonably well in terms of academics and placements. In this section, we shall see more in detail about the institute and its courses.

Location
Ranchi, popularly known as the city of waterfalls, is located in the state of Jharkhand and also serves as the capital of that state. It has quite good connectivity by air, railways, and road network from all parts of the country.
The campus is situated at a distance of 8 kms from the nearest airport (Birsa Munda Airport) and the travel time is approximately 30 minutes to reach the campus.
The closest railway station to the campus is the Ranchi Junction Railway station which is at a distance of 7.5 kms from campus and takes about 25 minutes to reach the campus.

Admission Procedure
The admission process for the PGP program is similar to all other IIMs, and the students need to take a CAT exam and also should have either completed their Bachelor’s degree or be in their final year of their Bachelor’s degree while writing the CAT Exam.

After taking the CAT exam, aspirants will have to appear for an interview based on shortlisting from various criteria like the performance in the 10th, and 12th exams, UG score, and gender diversity factor as well. The weightage for each of these factors varies every year depending upon the candidate pool available to the college.

Selection Criteria for PGP admissions – Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi
There are two stages of selection:
- Shortlisting candidates based on their CAT Scores, 10th, and 12th board marks for PI.
- Final Selection on the basis of PI.
The first basis of shortlisting candidates is through their CAT Score, 10th and 12th board marks. Along with the overall CAT Score, section-wise scores are also considered while shortlisting candidates.
The Personal Interview process will be conducted via the CAP process and shall be common for those IIMs which participate in the CAP process (including IIM Ranchi).

Final Selection Criteria
For the final selection, the shortlisted candidates are required to take an interview through CAP, and during the interview, the candidate’s academic performance, knowledge of concepts in the bachelor’s degree, and prior work experience (if applicable) will be judged.

- Profile of the candidate (divided into 4 components)

The total fee for the flagship MBA program is INR 16,00,000 for the year 2021-23. The detailed fee structure is tabulated as follows:

In addition to the tuition fee, the students need to pay a mess fee of INR 21,000 per term.
Campus
IIM Ranchi does not have a permanent campus yet, and the construction works for one such is currently under progress.
For the accommodation needs of the students, residential flats have been used by the institute in the residential blocks of the Sports Village in Khelgaon, which is situated in the outskirts of Ranchi. These flats have single occupancy rooms for each student, along with LAN and internet facilities. Common rooms are also present for informal meetings and there are a few other facilities like the conference room, two indoor game rooms, a fully equipped music room, and a fitness center.
