CMAT Exam Pattern

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by National testing agency (NTA) for admission in to management courses. It is a computer-based examination of 03-hour duration to test the students on various skills like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. This article shall discuss the CMAT Exam Pattern 2020 and syllabus in detail.

CMAT shall be conducted by National testing agency (NTA), a separate govt testing body formed for the purpose of organising entrance exams.

The whole procedure pertaining to CMAT shall be completely On-line.

CMAT Exam Pattern 2020


CMAT 2020 will be a computer based exam consisting of 100 objective questions. The total time to attempt the 100 MCQs will be 180 minutes or 03 hours.

The questions shall be divided into 04 sections and each section will have 25 questions.

There is negative marking in CMAT 2020. Every right answer will score +4 marks and every wrong answer will deduct -1 marks.

  • Note : ( i) Candidates are NOT allowed to carry Instrument/ Geometry/ Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, Any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables and Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Ear Phone/ Microphone/ Pager, Calculator, Camera, Tape Recorder, any metallic item or electronic gadgets etc. in the examination Room/ Hall.
  • (ii) In exam hall, he/she will be provided with rough papers for calculations and a Pen. After the test, candidate must leave the rough papers at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the examination room/hall.
