Introduction
CAT (Common aptitude test) 2019 is a national level entrance examination, conducted by one of the IIM’s (Indian institute of Management), on behalf of IIMCAT every year.By qualifying the examination, the candidate will be eligible for admission to the post graduate management and fellow programme offered by the IIM’s. CAT score is also allowed to be used by listed Non- IIM member Institutions (both government as well as private) all over India.However , IIMs have no role in selection process of these Institutions. This year, CAT will be held on 24th November, 2019. The competition will rise up this year, with an expectation of more than 2 lakh registrants.

CAT 2019 Exam Date
The CAT 2019 will be held on 24th November 2019
Mode of Examination
CAT will be conducted in online mode (computer based test), in MCQ format pattern.
Medium of Examination
The CAT examination will be conducted in English only.
CAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria
The Eligibility Criteria for CAT 2019 Examination refers to the minimum educational qualification one must have to be able to apply for CAT.
Note:- Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. However, it it is to be noted that such candidates, if selected, will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if they submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of their University/Institution (issued on or before the date as stipulated by the respective IIM) stating that they have completed all the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date.
Eligibility criteria for admission through CAT may be different and specific to the institute.
Nationality
The candidate must be an Indian citizen or citizen of Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Vietnam, Zambia, and Malawi who have shifted to India permanently.
Qualifying Exam
A CAT aspirant must be a Graduate with minimum 50% marks (45% for Reserved Category) in aggregate or equivalent from a university recognized by UGC. Students who are in their final year of Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are also eligible take CAT Exam.
Age Limit
There is no age limit.
Attempts
There is no limit on exam attempts for CAT.
How to Apply for CAT 2019 Examination

Candidates will have to fill the application form of CAT examination via online mode only in following steps:

- Register to create unique Id and pass word under New Candidate Registration
- On successful registration, log in with user Id and pass word for filling the form with following details :

The application form will be made available in the official website from, 7 August – 25 September,2019 ( Closing date extended To 25 Sept 2019)

CAT 2019 Application Fees

Candidates are required to pay the application fee which can be paid through Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking.
Documents to be Attached:
Candidates will have to fill their personal and educational details along with the scanned copy of photograph and signature. The following documents are to be attached with the application form of CAT 2019:
- Scanned Passport Size Photograph: size: 30mm X 45mm and in .jpg or .jpeg format. The photo should not be less than 150 px/inch in resolution.
- Scanned Signature: size: 80mm X 35mm. The signature should be clear and on white background.
- NC-OBC/SC/ST Certificate: Candidate belonging to reserved categories is required to download the caste certificate from the CAT Website, enter the required information, self-attest it and upload its scanned copy as a PDF document.
- PwD Certificate: Candidates belonging to PwD category are required to download the PwD certificate from the CAT website, fill it, self-attest it and upload its scanned copy as PDF document.
Admit Card
Regarding the CAT 2019 Admit Card, note the following Points:
The Admit Card will be available from 23rd October, 2019 to 24th November, 2019.
The admit card will be made available on the official website through online mode only.
Candidates are required to download and take a print of their admit card as it will not be send via post.
Candidates, who fail to enter the Examination Hall with their Admit Card, will not be allowed to sit for the exam under any circumstance.
Mode of exam
CAT exam will be conducted in online mode only.
Exam Duration
For CAT exam the candidates get 180 minutes to answer the questions. There is a sectional limit of 60 minutes for each section. The exam is conducted in 2 sessions of 3 hours each.
Type of Questions
There will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).
Total Marks
300 marks will be allotted totally
Total Number of Questions
100 questions in 3 sections (Verbal & Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude)
Marking Scheme
+3 marks will be allotted for each correct answer and -1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Results
Regarding the CAT 2019 Result Declaration, the following points may be noted:
- CAT exam Results will be announced probably on the 2nd week of January, 2020
- Candidates must check the results online on the official website and must download it and keep a hard copy of it.
CAT 2019 Counselling
Regarding counselling, note the following:
There is no provision of CAT counselling.
Admission to IIMs and other B-schools through CAT is done on the basis of Written Ability Test or Group Discussion and Personal Interview (WAT/GD-PI).
Selection criteria and minimum CAT cut off marks are also fixed individually by each IIM.
Non-IIMs accepting CAT score for admission, issue their own admission schedule and selection process.
The counselling will be conducted through offline mode only.

1.Question: How should I start my preparation for CAT?
Answer: It is best to ask yourself how many months you need to prepare for CAT. According to the experts, five to six months of dedicated preparations might take you towards your goal of securing a high percentile.
2.Question: When can I apply for CAT 2019?
Answer: With entire schedule of this year CAT exam out, the next CAT exam will be in 2019 and is expected to be held on November 24, 2019 ( Sunday). You can apply for next CAT exam from 7 August to 25 September 2019 on CAT Application 2019
3.Question: Is 6 months enough for CAT preparation?
Answer: Many say that it takes at least 6 months to 1 year to prepare for Common Admission Test (CAT). However, it needs complete focus, determination and zeal which varies candidate to candidate.
