About UPSC
UPSC or the Union Public Service Commission, is a constitutionally established body for recruiting public servants in the officer cadre to various Central govt. departments of the country. Established in the year 1926 as “FEDERAL PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION”, it was renamed to Union Public Service Commission post independence on the auspicious Republic day i.e. on 26th Jan 1950. Since then, the Commission has served as an elite recruiting body responsible for selecting officers for various services including the prestigious Civil services and National Defense Academy. UPSC exams form some of the most sought after recruitment exams in the country.
The current Chairman of the UPSC is Mr. Arvind Saxena, 78′ batch Indian Postal Officer.
