JEE Main 2019 is a national-level premier engineering entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Implemented in 2013, the exam is the stage one of the 2-stage Joint Entrance exam system for admission to IITs. JEE Main scores fulfill the basic eligibility for candidates willing to study B.Tech programs at NITs, IIITs, CFTIs and other Technical Institutions across the nation. Apart from the central institutions, JEE Main scores also serve as the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2019, to be conducted for IIT admissions. Official notification for JEE 2019 will be published by NTA in mid-November 2018.
Beginning from 2019, JEE Main will be conducted by the newly established National testing agency (NTA) taking charge from the CBSE, who conducted the exam since inception. As of 2018, 11.3 lakh students registered for the examination.

Important Dates of JEE Main 2019 (Tentative)
The tentative schedule for JEE Main 2019 has been tabulated below.

The counselling for JEE Main 2019 will begin after successful conduction of JEE Advanced 2019.
JEE Main 2019 Exam Date
The date for JEE Main 2019 is expected to fall in the 1st week of April 2019 for Offline test and 2nd week of April 2019 for Computer-based test (CBT).
Mode of Answering
Offline Based exam
Here students will be given OMR Sheets for filling answers and Question paper + one sheet for doing rough work.
Computer Based exam
Students will be given only a rough sheet as answers needs to be filled online. Unlike offline based you can demand for more rough papers for rough work.
Medium of Examination
English and Hindi will be available medium of question papers for JEE Main exam 2019. Students from Gujarat, Daman & Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli can also opt for Gujarati medium.
JEE Main Conducting Body
JEE Main test had been conducted by Central board of Secondary Education (CBSE) since inception. However, from 2019 JEE Main is expected to be conducted by newly established National testing Agency.
The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2019 examination has been briefed below:
Candidates belonging to either of the following categories are eligible to apply:
- Indian nationals,
Aspirants must have studied minimum five subjects in the qualifying examination.
Students who have given examination for 12th before 2017 are not eligible. Those who have failed in 2016 but passed in 2017 are not eligible as well.
No. of Attempts
Candidates can attend JEE Main exam only 3 times.
Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1994 are eligible.
How to Apply?
JEE Main 2019 registrations is not yet open.
NTA will start accepting it from mid-November 2018.
Application will be available online on the official website of JEE Main.
Fees are respective to gender and caste as detailed below.

The Application fee can be paid online via Credit/Debit cards or Paytm. Offline fees can be submitted via bank challan.
In case of e-challan fees must be submitted to Syndicate/Canara/ICICI Bank in cash. Any other forms of payments such as Demand Draft, Money order, IPO, etc will be rejected and is not refundable.

JEE Main 2019 registration requires following documents:
- Scanned photograph – JPEG – 4-40 kb – 3.5 X 4.5 cm
- Scanned Signature – JPEG – 1-30 kb – 3.5 X 1.5 cm
- Signature of Father/Mother/Guardian– JPEG – 1-30 kb – 3.5 X 1.5 cm
- Aadhar Card.

JEE Main 2019 Examination Pattern
JEE Main 2019 will be a 3-hour long examination irrespective of paper I or II.
There are two papers, one for engineering courses and other for architecture courses. Candidates can appear for either of the papers or both of the papers based on streams chosen.
This is for engineering entrances only. It consists of 90 Multiple choice questions.
There will be a total of 360 marks. The questions from these 3 subjects will be asked:
- Physics -30MCQ,
- Maths -30MCQ,
- Chemistry -30MCQ
Every correct answer gets you 4 marks and each wrong answer loses one mark.
This is for architecture admissions only. There are 82 questions on 3 sections mentioned below:
- Mathematics -30 questions
- Aptitude -50 questions
- Drawing -2 questions
Marking scheme shall remain same as of paper I which is 4 marks for correct answer and a minus one for negative response.
JEE Main admit card 2019 will be released on JEE Main official website in 4th week of March 2019. It will be available online only.
Candidates must download their admit card/hall ticket and carry a printout during examination.
JEE Main 2019 official answer key will be released before the publication of the result. The answer key will help the candidates in cross-checking their answers. It will help them get an approximate idea of their score in the JEE Main 2019 examination.
JEE Main result 2019 will be published in the month of April. Result will be available online only. Candidates must check their results on JEE Main official website. A merit list will be published after results and eligible candidates can further give JEE Advance 2019 examination.
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSSA) is responsible for conducting counselling for admissions to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Technical Institutions, or any other Engineering College. Seats for Engineering colleges are allocated according to the All India Rank in JEE Mains and Advance for IIT’s. This is an important procedure if one wishes to take admission. In-person counselling is done at allocated centres. You will get one ID by which you can fill an online application and choose the engineering colleges you wish to take admission in.
