Introduction
IIM Shillong is the seventh IIM to be established by the Government of India in the year 2007. It is recognized as one of the institutes of national importance and comes under the category of new IIMs in the country. Location
Shillong is a beautiful hill station city located in the capital of Meghalaya. It has low connectivity compared to other IIMs by air, railways, and road network from different parts of the country.
The campus is situated at a distance of 27 kms from the nearest airport (Shillong Airport) and the travel time is approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach the campus. The nearest well-connected airport is the Guwahati airport which is about 125 kms from IIM Shillong.
The closest railway station to the campus is Guwahati Junction Railway station which is at a distance of 100 kms from campus and takes about 3 to 4 hours on average to reach the campus.

Admission Procedure
The admission process for the PGP program is similar to all other IIMs, and the students need to take a CAT exam and also should have either completed their Bachelor’s degree or be in their final year of their Bachelor’s degree while writing the CAT Exam.

After taking the CAT exam, aspirants will have to appear for an interview based on shortlisting from various criteria like the performance in the 10th, and 12th exams, UG score, and gender diversity factor as well. The weightage for each of these factors varies every year depending upon the candidate pool available to the college.

Selection Criteria for PGP admissions – Indian Institute of Management, Shillong
There are two stages of selection:
- Shortlisting candidates based on their CAT Scores, 10th, and 12th board marks for PI.
- Final Selection on the basis of PI.
The first basis of shortlisting candidates is through their CAT Score, 10th and 12th board marks. Along with the overall CAT Score, section-wise scores are also considered while shortlisting candidates.

Final Selection Criteria
For the final selection, the shortlisted candidates are required to take an interview through CAP, and during the interview, the candidate’s academic performance, knowledge of concepts in the bachelor’s degree, and prior work experience (if applicable) will be judged.
The final selection will be made on the following basis:
- Score based on academic performance in 10th, 12th, and Graduation
- Personal Interview (PI)
- Overall absolute CAT Score
Fee Structure
The fee for the 2-year PGP program will be disclosed to the participants after they are offered admission to the institute.
In order to assist the economically weaker sections, the institute also provides scholarships through the “Need Based Financial Assistance Scheme”.
Apart from that, the government also provides scholarships for Scheduled Caste (SC)/ Scheduled Tribe (ST)/People with Disabilities (PWD) participants. For more details refer this link: https://scholarships.gov.in
Campus
IIM Shillong has a picturesque campus spread over an area of nearly 132 acres. Situated amidst the clouds, the campus boasts of many infrastructural facilities with state-of-the-art classrooms and a fully functional knowledge center (library) with an area of over 10000 sq. ft. It has an e-resources collection of more than 40 Databases which provides access to over 17000 e-Journals.
All the hostels are Wi-Fi enabled and there are a total of 4 hostels for accommodating the housing needs of all the students.
Apart from this, there are a number of sports facilities like lawn tennis courts, basketball courts, cricket-cum-football ground, hockey, throwball, volleyball and badminton courts and indoor sports like table tennis, pool, foosball, carrom and chess, and an open gym.
