What is IIFT?

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is a government-established autonomous public school since 1963. It is located in New Delhi, India and is a premier institute offering education in foreign trade management. Its flagship program is the Master of Business Administration in International Business (MBA-IB). It’s sister campus, established in 2006, is located in Kolkata, West Bengal. Unlike other premier institutes, IIFT conducts separate entrance exams for admission to various courses.

IIFT Location

The institute is located in Qutab Institutional Area, Hauz Khas, South Delhi. It is situated in the heart of the city and in the lap of Sanjay Van. The campus is also close to historical monuments such as the Qutub Minar and Lotus Temple and also close to other premier institutes of India such as Jawaharlal Nehru University, Indian Institute of Technology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, National Institute of Fashion Technology and Indian Statistical Institute.
Located in the capital city of India, the campus can be easily reached via several modes of transport.

The closest airport, Indira Gandhi International Airport, is 10.1 km from the campus and The New Delhi Railway station is 15.6 km from the campus.

It is also connected to two major bus stops which are Katwaria Sarai (8 mins walk) and Sanskrit Vidyapeeth (10 mins walk). Line 2 of the Metro halts at Hauz Khas Metro Station, near campus, thus making the commute easier.


IIFT Rankings

IIFT Delhi was ranked 30 among management schools in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2017 and 11 by Business Today’s “India’s best B-schools 2016”.

IIFT Admission Procedure

IIFT Admissions procedure for different programs have been described below.


For MBA-IB admissions, it is mandatory for students to clear the annually-held entrance test organised by the institute itself. The same entrance test filters candidates for admission to its sister campus also. Post-exam, the selected candidates will have to appear for an essay writing session, group discussion and Personal Interview.

Executive Programs

Admission for MBA Executive programs will be purely based on the selected candidate’s performance in group discussion, essay writing and personal Interview. Candidates will be selected based on their applications only. Admission process for these programs usually takes place in the month July/August every year with forms being released in May/June.

IIFT Ph.D Admissions

For the doctoral programs, candidates will have to fill in the application form along with the Statement of Purpose. Based on this, only eligible candidates would be allowed for appearing in the written and descriptive test. Following this, selected candidates will be called for an interview, post which the final list of selected candidates will be uploaded in their website.

Executive MBA



For all Executive MBA programs (EPGDIB | EPGDIM | EPGDCFM)
  •  3,50,000 (total for general)
  •  1,75,000 for SC/ST/PH

Apart from the tuition fee given above, another amount of ₹10,000 must also be paid as alumni fee.




Total Course Fee 4,00,000 (total for general)

An amount of ₹ 5,000 is charged towards library fee.

For Foreign Nationals, the total course fee is US$ 10,000. 

IIFT Campus

The facilities available in IIFT New Delhi include centrally air-conditioned lecture halls with audio-visual aids, conference halls for round-table conferences, an auditorium of 500 seating capacity, MDP Center, three Computer Centers, indoor games, and residential facilities for students.


The library at the institute’s New Delhi campus has 84,000 volumes and subscriptions to 800 journals with online cataloguing. The library has a collection of publications of FAO, IMF, OECD, UNCTAD, UNCTC, World Bank, and other international agencies.
The students also have access to databases such as the NIC, CMIE, India Trades, World Bank Indicators and other audio-visual aids on management. A WTO Resource Center has also been set up in the Library to focus exclusively on WTO issues.iift

Foreign Trade Library

This is the hub for all updated information in the field of Management, Foreign Trade and WTO related issues along with several published reports, journals, papers and articles.

Computer facilities

Computer Center aims at providing 99 percent uptime including ensuring server uptime, facilitating storage management, hardware, network operations, streamlining operations and simplifying end-user support.


There are 3 hostels provided for a safe and comfortable stay of the students: C9, Newiift Hostel and Old Hostel.
The C9 hostel is located 5mins from the main campus and has a common discussion room, a TV room, separate mess and sports facility along with room for over 60 students.
The new hostel is for the senior students pursuing MBA-IB and has double occupancy rooms only. It has 6 floors and the top two floors are for guests only. It has a common room with TV and a completely air-conditioned mess.
The old hostel is for both first and second-year students and has a total of 8 floors. The mess can accommodate up to 100 students and provides with nutritious food. A dry facility is available close to the building which caters to the needs of the students. The building also provides a computer room which the students make use of to take printouts.

IIFT Placement Statistics

IIFT Delhi placements have always had a stellar record. In the placement session for 2017, 3 students were given a package of more than Rs 1 crore p.a and 6 students were given a package of more than Rs 75 Lakhs p.a. International placement being the institute’s strength, it witnessed a rise in their offers this session. Organisations like Dabur, Avantor, Olam, etc have offered placements in international locations such as Singapore, Nigeria, etc.
The average compensation was Rs 18.41 Lakhs p.a. Placements took place in various domains, wherein Sales and Marketing and Finance led the way. Sales and Marketing comprised of 30% of the offers and finance comprised of 21% of the offers. 13% offers were for General Management and 10% were from the Consulting and 10% from Operations sector. Only 8% placements were for IT and 8% for Trade sector.
