SBI became SBI, back in 1955 under the State Bank of India act of 1955. With 6 associate banks under its belt, the State bank of India currently, has a market asset costing $460 billion, making it the biggest bank in India. To facilitate the mammoth structure, SBI operates with 14,000+ branches spread across 36 countries and “Iceland-sized” staff population of 0.3 million. As of 2017, the bank is headed by its Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya, based in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

SBI Recruitment 2017 for PO

Every year, SBI conducts a national-level entrance exam for recruiting officers from across the country. The recruits who successfully clear the entrance exam are trained in banking services before being recruited for the job. The SBI PO recruitment process is the toughest banking recruitment process in India and usually completes in 3 stages. The SBI recruitment 2017 process includes the following stages:

Stage – 1: Preliminary Written Test.sbi recruitment 2017

Stage – 2: Main Written test.
Stage – 3: Group Discussion and Interview.

A candidate must clear the preceding stage in order to reach the next stage. Finally, candidates who clear all three stages are recruited for SBI Probationary Officer’s job.

Date of Examination

As mentioned earlier, the SBI recruitment 2017 is a 3-stage recruitment process involving 2 written tests (Pre & Main) followed by a GD/PI round. The dates for these 3 events are as follows:

  1. Preliminary Test – 29th – 30 April & 6th – 7th May 2017.
  2. Main Test – 4th June 2017.
  3. GD/PI – 10th July 2017

In the case of Preliminary test, the exam date will be allotted by the bank.

Mode of Examination

The written tests (both Pre and Main) involved in SBI recruitment 2017 will be ONLINE examinations i.e. computer-based tests (CBT). No Pen/paper tests will be there.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Academic Qualifications: The applicant should be a graduate, in any discipline, from a recognized university. 

Candidates, who are in final year of their respective studies, may also apply, provided they are able to produce the proof of their graduation on or before 1st July 2017. 

  1. Age: A general category applicant must be at least 21 years of age as on 1st April 2017 i.e. must be born on or after 2nd April 1987. However, he/she should not be older than 30 years of age as on 1st April 2017 i.e. he/she must have been born before 1st April 1996.

How to Apply?

Application Fee

The SBI recruitment 2017 application form fee (and intimation charges) was Rs. 600 for General category students (Rs. 100 for SC/ST/PWD). The SBI recruitment 2017 application fee had to be only via ONLINE mediums including:

  1. Credit Card/Debit Card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro).
  2. Net Banking.
  3. Cash cards/Mobile Wallets.
  4. IMPS.

Documents to be uploaded

  1. Scanned recent colored passport-sized photo (4.5cm x 3.5cm) – 200 x 230 pixels – JPEG/JPG format – 20kb-50kb in size.
  2. Scanned signature in black ink on a white paper – 140 x 60 pixels – JPEG/JPG format – 10kb-20kb in size.

Application Procedure

The application portal for SBI recruitment 2017, managed by Sify, started functioning on 7th Feb 2017 (11:00 AM). The last date of applying for SBI recruitment 2017 was 6th March 2017.

The SBI recruitment 2017 application process included a total of 5 steps:

  1. Registration.
  2. Uploading Photo & Signature.
  3. Entering Details.
  4. Payment.
  5. Printing the Application Form.

Stage – 1: Registration

The application process for SBI recruitment 2017 begins from the link http://ibps.sifyitest.com/sbiposjan17/. On the page corresponding to this link, click on the button “Click Here for New registration” to begin the application process for SBI recruitment 2017. Clicking on this button will take you to the registration page of the application. Enter all the details asked on the page and “Save and Next” button to proceed. Upon clicking the button, the candidate will receive the registration number and password for all future logins. Note them down (if you want), or refer to the email and SMS received by you.

Stage – 2: Uploading Photo and Signature

After successfully registering for SBI recruitment 2017, continue the process by uploading your photograph and signature (dimensions are above). After uploading the same, again click on “Save and Next” button to proceed further.

Candidate can also choose to upload the documents at a later stage by logging in.

Stage – 3: Details

At this stage, the candidate will have to enter details such as criminal records, academic records, previous records at SBI PO exams etc. Enter all the details correctly before proceeding further. Upon filling in the corresponding details, click on “Save and Continue” button to move further.

Stage – 4: Payment

After completing the above steps, the candidate will be asked to review his/her application before final submission and subsequent payment of application fee. The application fee, as told before, is Rs. 600 for general/OBC category and Rs 100 for SC/ST/PWD candidate. Choose the mode of payment of application fee on the next page. The modes only include ONLINE modes as mentioned above. After successful payment, a screen displaying the receipt of the transaction can be viewed. Either print this receipt or save it for future references.

Stage – 5: Printing the Application Form

Upon completing the above 4 stages of SBI recruitment 2017, the candidate will now be asked to take a printout of the final application form bearing all particulars of the candidate. Please keep this application form safe with you for all future references and further appointment.

Candidates could choose to print this application form anytime before 21st March 2017.

Note that candidates didn’t have to send the printed application to SBI office or IBPS office under any circumstances.  

Admit Cards/Call letters

Preliminary test

Candidates had to download the admit cards for SBI recruitment 2017 Preliminary test from 15th April 2017 onwards. The call letter was made available on SBI website.

Main Test

The call letters for SBI recruitment 2017 Main test will be made available from 22nd May 2017 onwards.

GD/PI

The Call letters for SBI recruitment 2017 Interview shall be available for download from 26th June 2017 onwards.

Examination Pattern

Preliminary Test

The SBI recruitment 2017 preliminary test for PO recruitments was an Objective type test. It had 100 questions of 1 mark each. The test was a 1-hour test. The test comprised of the following 3 sections:

Section – 1: English Language (30 questions).
Section – 2: Quantitative Aptitude (35 questions).
Section – 3: Reasoning Ability (35 questions).

For each wrong answer, 0.25 marks were deducted.

Candidates must have cleared the preliminary test in order to qualify for the Main Test.

Main test

The SBI recruitment 2017 Main test for PO recruitments is a 2-phase test. These 2-phases are:

  1. Objective test.
  2. Descriptive test.
Objective Test

The objective test for SBI recruitment 2017 is a 3-hour exam comprising of 155 questions. These 155 questions carry a total of 200 marks, divided over 4 sections. Each of the sections must be done in the time allotted for that section. Candidates cannot go back to a particular section after the allotted time is over.

Section – 1: Reasoning and Computer Aptitude (45 questions – 60 marks – 60 minutes).
Section – 2: Data Analysis & Interpretation (35 questions – 60 marks – 45 minutes).
Section – 3: General/Economy/Banking Awareness (40 questions – 40 marks – 35 minutes).
Section – 4: English Language (35 questions – 40 marks – 40 minutes).

One-fourth of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Descriptive Test

The descriptive test for SBI recruitment 2017 will be 30 minutes test wherein, the candidates have to write Essays and Letters in the English language. The section will carry 50 marks.

Group Discussion and Interview

The GD and PI will carry 20 marks and 30 marks respectively.  

Result

The result for three stages will be declared at the following dates.
