WBJEE 2022: exam date, eligibility, pattern, opportunities

What is WBJEE 2022?

WBJEE 2022 is a state-level entrance examination conducted in West Bengal for the 12^th standard students to get admitted to different courses like Engineering, Pharmacy and Architecture as per their interest. It is conducted by the main board of the state named the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board every year. Different universities, private colleges and some public colleges of this state follow WBJEE 2022 to admit students in the above courses.

WBJEE 2022 exam date

The tentative time of WBJEE 2022 is 30 April, 2022. ( extended date)

Mode of answering

The exam of WBJEE 2022 is conducted in OMR sheets which are also known as Optical Mark Recognition sheets. The students have to mark their answers in the sheets and then it will be read by specially-made machines to count the scores.

Medium of examination

English is the main language of the WBJEE 2022 exam. But Bengali being the additional official language of West Bengal will also be the medium of this exam.

WBJEE 2022 eligibility criteria

Nationality

The nationality of the student has to be Indian.

Age limit

• All the courses except Marine Engineering need the students to be a minimum of 17 years old till 31st December 2022.

• The upper age limit is not there for WBJEE 2022.

• In the case of Marine Engineering, the candidate has to be a minimum of 17 years but there is an upper age limit as well. The upper age limit should be 25 years maximum till 31st December 2022.

Qualifying examination

Engineering and Architecture

• All the students need to pass the 12th exam with 45% marks in total for unreserved categories and 40% for the entire reserved category. The marks are aggregated in the subjects like Physics and Mathematics is compulsory. They can have anyone subject from Chemistry, Biology, Computer Application, Biotechnology and Computer.

• Other than that, students have to pass in English with 30% marks in their 12th exam.

• Students who want to take up the 5-year course for Architecture have to qualify NATA or Paper 2 of JEE main 2022.

Pharmacy

• For Pharmacy course, students have to pass their 12th examination with 45% marks for unreserved category candidates and 40% for reserved category candidates.

• Physics and Chemistry are mandatory subjects to take up Pharmacy after the 12th. Other than that, the students need to take up any one subject among Mathematics, Biology, Computer Application, Biotechnology or Computer.

• Students also have to take up English along with any other three subjects and pass English subject with a minimum of 30% in 12th examination.

Calcutta University

• For all the courses except the Jute and Fibre Technology course, you need to pass your 12th examination In Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Students need to get at least 60% marks as unreserved category and 55% marks for reserved category students. Other than that they also need to study English and score 30% marks in that subject.

• For Jute and Fibre Technology one can study Biotechnology or Biology instead of Chemistry in 12th standard. The rest of the eligibility criteria are the same as the previous one.

Jadavpur University

Students who want to pursue Engineering or Architecture course at this university have to get at least 60% marks in 12th as unreserved category student. One will need 45% marks if he/she is from the reserved category. In the case of the Architecture course, the students need to be qualified in the NATA or JEE main Paper 2.

West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences

For Dairy Technology course, 50% marks are needed in PCM in 12th standard exam as unreserved category student. For reserved category candidates, the requirement of marks is 40%. To pursue this course one needs to be a West Bengal domicile as well.

Neotia University

• The students who want to study Engineering at this university need to score 60% marks in PCM in 12th.

• For Computer Science or Robotics Engineering course, one has to choose Computer Science or Chemistry in 12th standard exam.

• To pursue Marine Engineering in this university, one needs to have 60% marks in 12th in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Other than that, students also have to score 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th standard examination.

Domicile requirements

There is no strict rule regarding the domicile requirements to apply for the WBJEE 2022 exam. But a few courses and some colleges are there where the students need to be a West Bengal domicile. Other than that if any student wants to apply for a Tuition Fee Waiver in any college then he/she needs to be a West Bengal domicile too. The students who are staying in West Bengal for more than 10 and also the students who have their parents who stay in West Bengal permanently are considered to be West Bengal domicile student.

How to apply for WBJEE 2022?

The WBJEE 2022 application form can only be filled via online mode. The WBJEE 2022 application form is expected to be released in the 4^th week of February 2022.

Application Fee

• The application fee is Rs. 500 for general category students and Rs. 400 for reserved category students (plus bank service charges).
• The fee can be done through online mode (Credit / Debit card, Net banking).

Documents to be Uploaded

The following documents are required for filling the WBJEE 2022 application form:

• Scanned Photograph – JPG/JPEG – 3kB to 100 kb – 4cm x 3 cm
• Scanned Signature – JPG/JPEG – 3 kB to 30 kB – 4 cm x 1.5 cm

Steps for Applying

The broad steps for filling the WBJEE 2019 application form are as below:

Step 1: WBJEE 2022 Application Form – Fill in the required fields (personal details, correspondence details, academic details) accurately.

Step 2: Uploading the Photograph and Signature – Upload the documents in the specified format.

Step 3: Payment of WBJEE 2022 Application Fee – Pay the fee using any of the methods mentioned above.

Step 4: WBJEE 2022 Application form final stage – Take a printout of the application form and retain it for future reference.

Admit card release

Applicants who will successfully apply for WBJEE 2022 entrance exam will be able to access their WBJEE admit card 2022 from the 25 April,2022. Candidates can download the WBJEE admit card 2022 from the official website. Along with the WBJEE admit card 2022, the candidate must carry a photograph (the same as used in WBJEE 2022 application form) and a valid ID proof to the examination centre.

Exam pattern of WBJEE 2022

• Answers have to be given on specially designed optical machine-
  readable response (OMR) sheet, which will be evaluated by Optical Mark
  Recognition method. Thus, it is very important to follow the correct
  method of marking.
• Candidates will have to darken the corresponding circle of most appropriate answer by completely darkening the circle with blue/black ball point pen.

The details of the exam pattern are as tabulated below:

Following are some important details regarding WBJEE 2022 exam pattern:

• All the questions will be multiple choice questions (MCQs).
• In Category-I: Only one answer option is correct.
• In Category-II: Only one answer option is correct.
• In Category-III: One or more answer options are correct
• Negative marking:- 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in category-I and 0.5 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer in category-II. There is no negative marking in category-III
• If in response, more than one circle is darkened, then said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield negative marking as given for category.
• Not attempting the question will fetch zero mark.

Results

General Merit Rank (GMR) shall be prepared based on the candidate’s total score obtained in Paper-I and Paper-II taken together.

The result declaration of WBJEE 2022 will be in the month of May and you will be able to check your result through their official website.

Answer key

If a student wants to go through the answer key then most of the time it is published after the examination within a few days. They can go through that answer key and also they can challenge the answer by paying 500 rupees per question.

Counselling

The process of WBJEE counselling 2022 will be kept in the month of June 2022. The e-counseling will be administered by the WBJEE Board to allow the seats to the applicants after the publication of WBJEE result 2022. The entrance will be offered on the basis of rank, availability of seats, category, etc. Through JEE Main 2022 rank 10% seats will be filled for admittance. All the applicants are required to carry all their certificates for documents verification during WBJEE counselling 2022.
