Staff Selection Commission once again revised the calendar for the examinations to be conducted this year (2018-19). The new schedule indicates that the Tier I examination of SSC Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2018 will be delayed once again. It was expected that this exam, which is one of the most sought after competitive exams under SSC, would be conducted in July but as per the new notification the final ‘date will be notified later.’ The admit cards would only come out after the date is announced by the commission.
Like last year, the CGL exam will be conducted through the online mode. And it is expected that like last year, the exam will be held only after the first week of August, perhaps even more late. Last year it was conducted between August 5 and August 23. Despite constant requests and complaints by candidates, the Commission has not been able to manage the calendar well. This delay takes a toll on candidates who have been spending time and money in preparing for the central government job positions.
There is an equal amount of delay for other exams like Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Exam 2018, Stenographer Grade C and D, Constables in CAPF 2018, Stenographer Grade C and D, and so on. For most of the examinations for the annual year 2018-19, the Commission has still not been able to issue the date of exam. This clearly indicates the inability of the Commission to manage the procedure properly.
For 2017, the Commission had announced around 4720 positions in the unreserved category, and almost the same number for reserved category. This year for the CGL 2018, candidates will be seeking jobs for similar positions. The calendar indicates that CGL 2017, for which only the tier IV is remaining will reportedly be held in November or December this year.
SSC conducts many examinations for recruitment in the lower-level central government posts under Group B and Group C categories.
