INTRODUCTION
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the JE (Junior Engineering) recruitment examination to employ engineering graduates in different Departments of Govt. The recruitment process involves 2-Papers, held annually, meant for testing candidate’s engineering knowledge and General aptitude. The exam is usually conducted in December or January of each year. In 2016, 3 million applicants took the SSC JE recruitment test.

SSC JE 2020 Vacancy
Official notification of detailed vacancies of SSC JE 2020 has not been released and uploaded in due course.
Language of Examination
The SSC JE 2018 examination will be conducted in the following two languages:
- English.
- Hindi.
Mode of Answering
SSC JE 2018 involves two different papers – Paper I and Paper II.
The Paper I of SSC JE 2020 shall be a computer-based test (CBT) while Paper II will be a conventional descriptive type paper (like school/university exams).

SSC JE 2020 Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
Applicants must ensure to have any of the following nationalities for SSC JE 2020 exam:-
- Citizen of India Or,
- Subject of Bhutan Or,
- Subject of Nepal Or,
- Tibetan Refugee, who had come to India before 1st January 1962with intention for permanent settlement in India Or,
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, Burma and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire, United Republic of Tanzania, Vietnam and Ethiopia with intention for permanent settlement in India.
Notes : (a) The above is subject to that candidate belonging to categories (2), (3), (4) and (5) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
(b) For above eligibility criterion,a candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him/ her by the Government of India
Educational Qualification
BE/B.Tech/Diploma in Engineering from a recognized college or university is the minimum criteria required for all the candidates appearing in the SSC JE 2020 Examination.
The additional criteria required in accordance to the posts applied are tabulated below:

SSC JE 2020 Application
SSC JE 2020 application form will be available in digital format only. No off-line form of registration will be acceptable.
The application forms of SSC JE 2020 will be available from 01 October 2020 to 30 October 2020.
SSC JE 2020 Application Fee
The registration fee for SSC JE 2020 shall be Rs. 100 for General/OBC category candidates.
There is no fee in the case of SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen (eligible for reservation) /Female candidates.

Candidates can pay the application fee through both Online & Offline mediums. The available medium are:
- SBI Branches (payment in cash by generating Challan).
- BHIM UPI
- Net Banking by using Visa, Master Card, Maestro , RuPay
- Credit Card/Debit Card.
Notes :- (a) The last date of online fee payment is up to 01.11.2020 (23:30 hours).
(b) Candidates who wish to make the payment through challan of SBI, may make the payment in cash at the designated branches of SBI within the working hours of bank up to 05.11.2020 subject to that challan has been generated by them before 03.11.2020 (23:30 hours).
(c) Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor will it be adjusted against any other examination or selection.
Photograph and Signature Specifications
- Scanned coloured passport size Photograph (Size: 20KB to 50 KB) is to be uploaded in JPEG Format. Image dimension of the photograph should be about 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5 cm (height).Photograph should be without cap, spectacles and both ears should be visible.
- Scanned signature (Size: 11KB-12KB; Resolution: 40 X 60 pixels) should be uploaded in JPEG format.
Notes:- (a) Photo graph to be uploaded should not be more than three months old from the date of the publication of the Notice of Examination, and,
(b) Date on which the photograph has been taken should be clearly
printed on the photograph. Applications without such date printed on the photograph will be rejected
Steps of Applying
Part I : Registration ( One Time)
The part I is the registration and only one time. It requires certain basic credentials of the candidate including verification of mobile Number.
Please keep ready following documents before starting Registration:- (i) Mobile Number (to be verified through OTP)
(ii) Email ID (to be verified through OTP).
(iii) Aadhaar Number. If, Aadhaar Number is not available, please give one of the
following ID Numbers. (Candidate has to show the original document at a
later stage):
(a) Voter ID Card
(b) PAN
(c) Passport
(d) Driving License
(e) School/ College ID
(f) Employer ID (Govt./ PSU/ Private) (iv) Disability Certificate Number, if you are a person with benchmark disability
(v) Information about the Board, Roll Number and Year of Passing the Matriculation
(10th) Examination.
Step 1 : Go on link : https://ssc.nic.in
Step 2 :Home page of SSC will appear. Go on Right side box and click ”New User’‘
Step 3 : A new page will appear where in enter basic details and save it.
Step 4 : Then fill the “Additional and Contact Details”
Step 5 : Upload Photo and signature details and submit.
Step 6 : A page will appear containing other details and Registration Number and take print of it and keep in safe custody for future reference.
Part II : Filling up the Application form
Step 1: Go on link : https://ssc.nic.in
Step 2 :Home page of SSC will appear. Go on Right side box and Log in with User Name and password.
Step 3 : Fill the credentials
Step 4 :Make Payment of Application fee( as detailed above)
Step 5 Upload photo graph and signature
Step 6 : Take print out of the Complete Application form
Note : – (a) Candidates must not send the printed application form to SSC office under any circumstance.
(b) The Application process is completely online.
(c) For examination centres , refer page 11 and 12 of Broucher. Candidate may opt for 03 centres in order of the priority within the same region.
(d) No request for change of Exam Centre will be considered later on under any
circumstances.
SSC JE 2020 Admit Card
- Applicants have to download their Admit Card from the official Website of SSC with following steps :
- Log on Admission Card
- Click on Admit Card At top
- A new page will open containing sites of all the regional centers for down load the Admit Card.
- Click on your Regional Center
- A new page will open
- Click on Admission certificate for Junior Engineer 2018
- A new page will appear
- Enter 11 digit User Id and Date of Birth
- Then click against I Agree
- Click Search Button
- Admission Certificate will appear, which you can print
- The details of Exam Date and Exam Centre will be contained in the Admit Card.
- ID proofs such as Adhaar Card, Voter Cards, Driving Licence, etc should be brought along with the Admit Card on the day of the Examination.
SSC JE 2020 Exam Pattern
The SSC JE 2020 examination will be a 2-step recruitment test. Step one of the process involves a computer-based test while the second stage is a conventional paper.
Both of these papers will test candidate’s engineering knowledge along with general aptitude.

Paper I
- Paper I is a 2-hours long computer-based test. It will only comprise of Objective type questions.
- The total marks allotted to paper I shall be 200 marks.
- The paper will have 3 sections, each having a fixed number of questions:

- General Engineering section will consist of 3 Parts, from which the candidates need to attempt any one part according to the post he/she is applying for:

- Negative Marking: 1/4th (0.25) marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Paper-II
Candidates who will qualify the Paper I of SSC JE 2020 exam will be eligible to take Paper II for the final recruitment.
- Paper II of SSC JE 2020 examination will be a Descriptive/Conventional Type paper much like college/school exams.
- The duration of the test shall be 2-hours with a total of 300 marks at stake.
- Like Paper I, Paper II also consists of 3 parts, out of which the candidate needs to answer one part according to the post applied for. These 3 parts can be detailed as follows:
Part A: General Engineering (Civil and Structural)
Part B: General Engineering (Electrical)
Part C: General Engineering (Mechanical).

Yes, you are eligible to apply for SSC JE examination. Diploma in Electronics and Electrical engineering is considered equivalent to Electrical.
