Nowadays, a career in law has become so rewarding that many students are opting for various law entrance exam after completing their 12th examination as well as after their graduation. While the lack of good lawyers had served as the inspiration for some to study law, a few other candidates see it as a great career opportunity due to the plethora of jobs available in different sectors.

Apart from the rock-solid determination, one needs brilliancy in a few skills such as competitive oration, superior legal aptitude and excellent understanding of various legal concepts.

Listed below (in alphabetical order) are the top 10 law entrance exam that every law aspirant must look forward to.

1. AIBE (All India Bar Examination)

The actual purpose of this examination is to examine an advocate’s capability to practice law rather than checking the ability of a student to get admission to law colleges. It scrutinizes a candidate’s analytical abilities and analyses his understanding of the basic knowledge of law. So, basically, this exam is for the one who had already completed their law courses and are ready for practicing professionally as a lawyer, rather than for the aspiring candidates who are seeking admission in law colleges. On passing the examination, the candidate will be awarded with the “Certificate of Practice” by the Bar Council of India. 

2. AILET (All India Law Entrance Test)

Conducted exclusively for National Law University (NLU), the AILET examination provides admission to aspiring students in B.A-L.L.B, L.L.M and PhD courses in law. Apart from the NLU, some of the popular institutes accepting AILET scores include Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, New Law College, IFIM Law College among others.

3. AIL-LET (Army Institute of Law – Law entrance test)

The Army Institutes of Law (AIL) conducts the AIL Entrance Test for granting admission in Integrated B.A-L.L.B and L.L.M degree courses in liaison with the Punjabi University, Patiala. The entrance test is usually held in the month of July every year. 

4. AMU (Aligarh Muslim University) Law Entrance Examination

AMU Law entrance exam, as the name suggests, is a nationally-held law entrance test for admission to Aligarh Muslim University. This test results in admissions to B.A-L.L.B courses at the premier Aligarh Muslim University.

5. BHU-UET (Banaras Hindu University—Undergraduate Entrance Test)

BHU UET is an annually conducted common entrance exam for admission to UG courses (except engineering) at IIT-BHU. The exam is a gateway to variety of UG courses at BHU in the field of Arts, Law, Commerce and others. The entrance exam is usually conducted during April-May every year.

6. BVP CET (Bharati Vidhyapeeth Common Entrance Test) Law

A pencil and paper based offline examination that grants the opportunities to eligible candidates for admissions in colleges like New Law College or the Deemed Bharati Vidhyapeeth with various undergraduate courses like LLB, BA LLB and BBA LLB in its four affiliated colleges. 

7. CLAT (Common Law Admission Test)

Considered as one of the most popular law entrance examination, CLAT is a centralised admission test conducted in rotation by 18 National Law Universities (NLU) across the country. The CLAT scores certify eligibility of aspirants for undergraduate and postgraduate law courses in India. More than 45,000 students take this test every year to gain admissions in several NLUs built across the nation.

8. Delhi University Law Entrance Exam

Conducted by the prestigious Delhi University, DU LLB entrance examination provides admission to various law courses like LLB and LLM under the Faculty of Law Department of Delhi University.

9. LSAT (Law School Admission Test)

Specially designed for L.L.B and L.L.M admissions, LSAT is a standardized law entrance test held at International-level across the Globe. Conducted four times a year, LSAT scores are acceptable in reputed institutions such as IIT Kharagpur Law School, Amity Law School, Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, SRM University, The Jindal Global Law School, UPES Dehradun among others.

Apart from the prestigious institutes on our homeland, the LSAT scores are also accepted in institutes across USA, Canada, Australia and some other countries.

10. SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test)

SET or Symbiosis Entrance Test is a national-level common entrance test conducted by Symbiosis International University, Pune. The test scores are used by the university for shortlisting candidates for various UG courses taught in its campuses.

This UGC certified university also considers SET scores for Law courses in its campuses.
