What is IIT JAM Exam?
Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) conduct a national level Joint Admission Test (JAM) for M. Sc. on rotational basis every year on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. This IIT entrance exam is conducted for aspirants seeking admission in integrated PhD, M. Sc, Joint M. Sc.-PhD, M. Sc.-PhD dual degree, M. Sc.-M. Tech., M. Sc.-M.S. (Research), PhD dual degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes. The official notification for IIT JAM 2019 is expected to be released in the 1st week of September 2018.

IIT JAM 2019 is expected to be conducted by 2nd week of February 2019.
Mode of Answering
IIT JAM 2019 is conducted in an online mode as a Computer Based Test (CBT).
Medium of Examination
In IIT JAM 2019, English has been prescribed as the only medium of examination.

IIT JAM 2019 Eligibility Criteria
Before applying for the examination, we request candidates to go through the eligibility clauses for the JAM exam.
Age Limit
There is no age limit to apply for IIT JAM 2019.
Nationality
Candidates of every nationality are eligible to apply for IIT JAM exam.
Educational qualification
The candidates must possess bachelor’s Degree in the specified stream from any recognized Institute or University.
The candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the above qualifying degree (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates).
For candidates with CGPA, a minimum 5.5 out of 10 is required for General category students while 5.0 on 10 will work for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
Candidates currently in the final year or final semester of the above Qualifying Examinations can also apply.
Physical fitness
At the time of admission, all admitted candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate in the prescribed form from a registered medical practitioner.

Application fee
Application fee for IIT JAM 2019 registrations can be only submitted through the online payment gateway, by using Debit/Credit card or net banking.

Application Process
For completing the IIT JAM 2019 Registrations, following steps must be dealt with.
- First, the candidate will need to register on the application portal. Basic details, such as the candidate’s name, email address, phone number, etc. will be asked for this step.
- Next, the candidate should login using the credentials received after registration.
- The candidate will need to enter personal details, such as a correspondence address, educational qualifications, and so on. The candidate will also need to enter the number of test papers they wish to attempt (up to 2).
- The exam centre/city preference will also be required while filling the form.
- Then, the candidate will be asked to upload the documents in prescribed format. After the successful completion of the form, the candidate may move on to pay the fees. However, the candidate must ensure that the details entered by her/him are correct, as no changes will be allowed after the fee payment.
- After the successful payment of the fee, the candidate is advised to download the IIT JAM 2019 application form and keep it safe for future reference.
IIT JAM 2019 Admit Card
Candidates who will register successfully for the JAM 2019 exam will be allotted admit cards online by the 2nd week of January 2019. Candidates can access their admit cards online from the official website by providing their login credentials.
Please carry either of the following ID proofs along with the IIT JAM 2019 hall tickets:
- Aadhaar Card
- Driving License
- Pan Card
- Voter ID
- Passport.
This ID proof should be the same as the one mentioned in the application form.
Examination Pattern
- Duration: The exam duration will be three hours.
- Type of Question: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions will be asked in the exam.
- Maximum marks: 100
- Total Number of questions asked: 60

IIT JAM 2019 Results
Candidates will be able to check the IIT JAM 2019 result online by the 3rd week of March 2019. Within one week of result announcement a score card for each paper will be published online approximately by 4th week of Mar 2019, which will display the All India Rank of the candidate based upon which he/she will be allotted seats.
Counselling
The candidates with names are listed on the IIT JAM 2019 score card are eligible to apply for online admission. The admission form will be available on the official website by the 1st week of April 2019. The candidate can fill the admission form and submit it before the 3rd week of April 2019 (tentatively).
The candidates are advised to fill their preferences, education details, and marks obtained with utmost care.
Candidate will be given admission based on their rank, preference and availability of seats. The admission lists will be published on the website. Candidates who are allotted seats will have to visit the allotted Institute to complete the admission process.
