Introduction


Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is an esteemed and deemed public institution located in the IT hub Bengaluru, Karnataka. Established in the year 1909 with help from J.R.D Tata and Maharaja of Mysore, IISc Bangalore is one of the oldest institutions in the nation. conceptualised by J.R.D Tata with monetary help from Maharaja of Mysore. Apart from monetary help, Maharaja also contributed a land of 400 acres for the institute.

Currently, the institute is situated on this 400-acres of donated land in the heart of city of Bengaluru. IISc Bangalore campus houses:

  • 6 canteens or cafeterias,
  • 1 multi-cuisine restaurant,
  • a gymkhana that combines gymnasium and sports complex,
  • 9 men hostels and 5 women’s dormitories,
  • 2 playgrounds for playing football and cricket,
