What was EAMCET?

EAMCET or the Engineering, Agriculture, Medical Common Entrance Test was an annual entrance test to select meritorious students to fill up seats in various colleges of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Before the division of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, the exam was common for colleges of both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. But from 2015 onwards, the exam has been split into two exams – AP EAMCET (For Andhra Pradesh) and TS EAMCET (For Telangana). This article is about AP EAMCET 2017.

AP EAMCET 2017

AP EAMCET is a joint entrance test for admission to Medical & Engineering colleges (both Private & Govt.) of Andhra Pradesh. Conducted by JNTUK (Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University Kakinada), AP EAMCET bifurcated from EAMCET when the state of Andhra Pradesh was divided in 2014. JNTUK conducts AP EAMCET on the behalf of APSCHE (Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education). In 2015, a total of 1.2 lakh engineering candidates appeared for AP EAMCET 2015. This article focuses on engineering candidates of AP EAMCET 2017.

Type of Examination

The mode of answering for AP EAMCET 2017 was a computer based test (CBT). Before 2017, the AP EAMCET 2017 was only available in paper/pen mode.

The exam dates for AP EAMCET 2017 were as follows:

The test was conducted for a period of 2 slots each day.

Slot-1: 10:00 AM – 01:00 PM.
Slot-2: 02:30 PM – 05:30 PM.

Medium of Examination

The question paper for AP EAMCET 2017 was in both ENGLISH and TELUGU language.

Candidates who have studied 12th standard in Urdu medium may ask for question paper in Urdu. Such candidates will be allotted test center at Kurnool only.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nationality: The candidate should be an Indian National or Person of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holder.
  1. Domicile: Candidate must belong to the state of Andhra Pradesh/Telangana. The detailed description of what belonging to AP or Telangana means can be seen in the prospectus.
  1. Qualifying Exam: A candidate must have passed the 12th standard exam with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry as subjects. A minimum 45% marks (40 % for SC/ST) as an aggregate is required in 12th standard.

OR


The candidate must have appeared/passed the final year Diploma exam in Engineering, conducted by the State Board of Technical education and Training, Andhra Pradesh.

  1. Age limit: A candidate applying for Tech in branches other than Dairy Technology, Agriculture and FS & T should have completed 16 years of age on 31st December 2017. No upper limit is there.

Candidates applying for B.Tech in Dairy Technology, Agriculture and FST, should have completed at least 17 years of age on 31st December 2017 and should not be more than 22 years (25 years for SC/ST) of age on 31st December 2017.

Registration Fee

The Registration fee of AP EAMCET 2017 for engineering courses was Rs. 450. This application fee was paid via:

  • AP Online.
  • Credit/Debit card.
  • Net Banking.

The last date of submitting the application form (without late fees) was 17th March 2017.

After the last date of submission, following charges were levied as application form fee.

  1. For forms submitted between 17 /03/17 – 26/03/17: Rs. 500.
  2. For forms submitted between 26/03/17 – 10/04/17: Rs. 1,000.
  3. For forms submitted between 10 /04/17 – 17/04/17: Rs. 5,000.
  4. For forms submitted between 17/04/17 – 22/04/17: Rs. 10,000

Details required for filling the form

These details were to be accumulated by the candidates before filling the application form:

  1. Hall ticket number/ Roll no. of the qualifying examination.
  2. Aadhar Number.
  3. Information about annual income.
  4. Relevant document for proving local status.
  5. Choosing the Helpline Center for certificate verification and during counseling.

How to Apply?

Like every other application nowadays, applying for AP EAMCET 2017 was also a completely online process.

The application portal for AP EAMCET 2017 is closed now.

Steps involved in the Registration process were:

  1. Follow the AP EAMCET 2017 website http://sche.ap.gov.in/EAMCET/Eamcet/EAMCET_HomePage.aspx to start the registration process.
  1. The registration process begins with basic details like Name, Email id, Password etc.
  1. Unlike other applications, AP EAMCET 2017 will ask for payment of application fee (Rs. 450) before filling the complete application form. This means after registration, candidate pays the fee & then fills the form.
  1. Upon successful payment, candidates will be asked to fill up the application form. This form involves fields like Father’s name, Address, Phone number etc.
  1. Upon submission of the application form, candidates are given the filled in application form along with the registration number. Candidates must take a printout of this form and affix a recent PP size color photograph of them and get it attested by a Gazette officer or Head of the institution where the candidate studied the Qualifying exam.
  1. This attested form is to be kept safely as it will be submitted to the Invigilator during AP EAMCET 2017.
  1. This completes the application process for AP EAMCET 2017.

Candidates were not supposed to send the printed application form to AP EAMCET office.

Candidates were given a chance to correct their application forms post submission (in case wrong information has been passed) in the first week of April 2017.

Admit Card/Hall ticket

Candidates downloaded their admit card/Hall ticket from http://sche.ap.gov.in/EAMCET/Eamcet/EAMCET_GetDownloadHallTicket_Live2017.aspx.

Exam Schema

The AP EAMCET 2017 exam for engineering candidates contained 160 questions of 1 mark each. The question paper comprised of 3 sections:

  1. Physics: 40 questions.
  2. Chemistry: 40 questions.
  3. Mathematics: 80 questions.

A total of 3 hours were given to candidates for attempting AP EAMCET 2017.

Answer Key

The official answer key of AP EAMCET 2017 was published on 29th April 2017 on AP EAMCET 2017 website.

Result

A general category candidate should score at least 25 % of the maximum marks in order to qualify AP EAMCET 2017. No such thresh hold exists for Reserved category students.
