NDA 2017 application portal is closed now.
This article is a description of the NDA form in detail. NDA or National Defence Academy is a Military training school, set up by Indian Govt, for training candidates from 10+2 level onwards. Students at NDA are selected through a national – level entrance exam held twice a year, conducted by UPSC. The written exam, conducted by UPSC, is followed by SSB Interviews before final selection of the candidate.

Date of Notification
The NDA form for NDA 2017 (II) will be available for applicants from 7th June 2017 onwards on the official UPSC portal. The last date of applying for NDA 2017 (II) is 30th June 2017.
Date of Examination
The NDA (II) written exam will be held on 10th September 2017.
The NDA form fee for NDA 2017 (II) is Rs. 100 for general category students. However, applicants of SC/ST category are exempted from paying this application fee.
Along with SC/ST, applicants whose father are currently serving as JCOs/ORs or other non-commissioned ranks in Indian Army and equivalent ranks in Air Force/Navy, shall not pay the application fee for NDA form, provided the applicant is currently enrolled in Sainik Schools.
Similar exemption is present in the case of sons of ex-JCOs.
The application fee for NDA form can be paid by either of the following methods:
- Cash Payment at any SBI branch.
- Visa/MasterCard Credit/Debit Card.
- Net Banking of SBI & Associate Banks.
Payments through Demand Drafts are not acceptable under any circumstances.
Candidates choosing “Pay by Cash” method for application fee deposition must submit the Challan by next working day only. The last date of depositing the fee via “Pay by Cash” method is 29th June 2017 i.e. one day before the last date.
Things to be kept ready before filling the NDA form
- Scanned photograph of 140 X 110 pixels – JPG format – 3Kb – 40Kb in size.
- Scanned Signature of 110 X 140 pixels– JPG format – 1Kb – 40Kb in size.
- Valid Email ID & Contact No.
Steps of Applying
NDA (II) form for 2017 will be available only through ONLINE mode. The whole of NDA form has two parts:
- Part I.
- Part II.
The part I of NDA form is basically meant for gathering the personal details of a candidate. T
To begin the NDA form, it is required of the candidate to follow the link https://upsconline.nic.in/mainmenu2.php. Upon reaching the link, you will see a table with the application link on the right-most side of the screen. Click on the link to begin the part 1 of application.
Fill in the fields with corresponding details and Click “Continue” to proceed further.
Now, at this stage, the candidate will be asked about his educational details and other relevant details. Provide these details and proceed further.
The part 2 of the NDA form has 3 major steps:
- Fee Payment (if applicable).
- Photograph and signature uploading.
- Final Submission & printing the application form.
The application form must be printed and kept safely for future references and correspondences with UPSC and Armed forces.
Candidates aren’t required to send the printed application form or any other document to UPSC office, as the application is completely ONLINE.
The admit cards for NDA (II) are expected to be out by the 4th week of August 2017.
The results of the UPSC NDA written exam are expected to be declared by November 2017.
