INTRODUCTION:

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kalyani (IIIT Kalyani), with the motto “Knowledge is Supreme of all Wealth”. is a public-private Indian Institute of Information Technology located at Kalyani in West Bengal. The institute was set up by the Government of India Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD) , Government of West Bengal and industry partners (Coal India and Rolta Foundation) using the Not-for-profit Public Private Partnership(N-PPP).

LOCATION

Kalyani is located in the Nadia district of West Bengal. The institute IIIT Kalyani is presently running from the temporary campus at Webel IT Park. This building is well connected by road (Kalyani-Barrackpore Expressway), rail (Kalyani Railway Station) which is at a distance of 5.1 KM distance, and flights. The nearest air port is the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata at a distance of 45Km. Also, it is located at a valid distance from the Cultural Capital of India i.e. Kolkata. There are about 80 trains that connect Kalyani and Kolkata.

Since, it is a new institute founded in 2014, it has not secured any rank as of now.

CAMPUS

The Government of West Bengal has lent support to the IIIT Kalyani institute by granting 50 acres of land for setting up the Campus. While construction has started in the land provided, the institute at present runs from the temporary campus at Webel IT Park, Kalyani. The infrastructure has been developed adequately to give it a rich ambience for education. The infrastructure of the building is sufficient for the functioning of the institution. The classrooms are smart classrooms, which have video conferencing facility. Faculties and industry experts from distant locations may take classes and may interact with the students through video conferencing in the classrooms. The library of the IIIT Kalyani is a continuously growing with the compact features; document, user and services. The institute is equipped with 3 software and 3 hardware labs. The institute is facilitated with a broadband connection and WiFi connectivity all around the campus.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE:

B.Tech Admissions

BTech admission is done on the basis of a candidate’s score in JEE Mains. It is followed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling. The final allotment of seat is done through seven rounds of JoSAA counselling. The remaining vacant seats are filled through special rounds of CSAB counseling.

PhD Admissions

For admission in Indian Institute of Information Technology, Kalyani to the PhD programs in , the candidate needs to appear for an institute-level written test. Depending on the performance in the test, candidates are shortlisted. These shortlisted candidates further need to appear for an institute level interview.

For the 2019-2020 batch, the placement scenario of IIIT Kalyani seems to be very promising. 70 % students have been placed in various reputed companies. The students received offers from both on-campus and online/off-campus selection process.
