Introduction
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the recruitment exam for Central Armed Police Forces (UPSC CAPF 2020) aspirants every year. This exam is for candidates who wish to join the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB) as Assistant Commandant can apply for this exam. The recruitment process consists of 3 phases – Written test, Physical Standard Tests and Interview.
The official notification for UPSC CAPF 2020 will release on 22 April 2020. Due to spread of Corana and extension of lock down period up to 03 May 2020, release of notification deferred and new schedule will be given after completion of lock down phase II ie up to 03 May 2020.

UPSC CAPF 2020 shall be held on 9th August 2020.
Mode of Answering
The mode of answering for UPSC CAPF 2020 shall be Pen/Paper based.
Medium of Examination
UPSC CAPF 2020 exam will be conducted in both Hindi and English languages.
Participating Forces
Qualified candidates will be recruited by following Central Armed Polices Forces as Assistant Commandant:
- Border Security Forces (BSF).
- Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
- Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
- Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

Eligibility Criteria
Citizenship
- Appearing candidate must be an Indian citizen
Note: Female candidates are excluded from the posts in ITBP.
Educational Qualification
- Candidate should be a bachelor degree holder (any discipline) from any recognized university, or
- Should be in the final year of their degree course in 2020.
Age Limit
- Candidate must be 20-25 years old as on 1st August 2020.

How to Apply?
UPSC CAPF 2020 application portal will open on 22nd April 2020.
Candidates can apply for the exam through the official website.
Application Fees
UPSC CAPF 2020 application fees is ₹200 only. Female and SC/ST candidates are exempted from the fees.
Candidates can pay the fees through following modes:
- Net Banking
- Credit/Debit card
- Through cash at any SBI branch.
Documents to be Uploaded
Candidates need to upload the following documents while registration:
Scanned photograph
- Colored
- Passport sized
- JPEG/JPG Format
- 3kb-40Kb in size.
Scanned signatures
- JPEG/JPG format
- 1kb-40Kb in size.
Step by step procedure
The UPSC CAPF application forms will release in April 2020. Candidates can register themselves by following these simple steps:
- Visit the official UPSC website and click on the CAPF 2020 registration link.
- Fill in your personal details, academic qualification and category details.
- Obtain your user ID and password.
- Pay the application fees by logging in using your credentials
- Upload the required documents
- Choose exam centre preference
- Print out your duly filled application form and fees receipt.
UPSC CAPF 2020 Admit Card
UPSC CAPF 2020 Admit Card shall be released in the third week of July 2020.
Candidates can download the hall ticket from the official website by logging in.
Exam Pattern
The Exam Pattern is divided into 3 stages:
- Written Test
- Physical Standard Test
- Interview
Written Test
Written Test shall consist of 2 papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Paper 1
Paper 1 will be 2 hours long Objective test. It will be of a total of 250 marks.
A total of 125 questions will be asked each carrying 2 marks each. Negative marking of 1/3rd marks will be made for wrong answers.

Paper 1 will have questions based on the following topics:
- General Mental Ability.
- General Science.
- Current Events of National and International Importance.
- Indian Polity and Economy.
- History of India.

Paper 2
Paper 2 will be a 3-hours long test. The total marks shall be 200 marks. There will be 7 questions in total of descriptive manner.

FAQs
Ques. What is the cut off for UPSC CAPF 2020?
Answer. Candidates belonging to general category, the final cut off according to last year would be around 190 marks. For OBC, 188 marks and for SC/ST, around 160 marks.
Ques. When are UPSC CAPF registration forms released?
Answer. UPSC CAPF forms are released along the official notification. For 2020, it is expected that registration will begin by 22nd April 2020.
Ques. Can final year students apply for UPSC CAPF?
Answer. Yes, provided the student is 20 years old as of 1st August 2020, then they are eligible to apply.
