Introduction
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the examination for the recruitment of candidates in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) once a year. The candidates who wish to join the CAPFs i.e. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Sashstra Seema Bal (SSB) as Assistant Commandant can apply for this exam. The complete recruitment process involves 3 stages – Written test, Physical Standard tests and Interview before final absorption. UPSC CAPF 2018 written test will be conducted on 12th August 2018.

UPSC CAPF 2018 Exam Date
UPSC CAPF 2018 exam date has been announced and the written test will be conducted on 12th August 2018.
Mode of Answering
The mode of answering for UPSC CAPF 2018 will be Pen/Paper based.
Medium of Examination
UPSC CAPF 2018 exam will be conducted in both Hindi and English languages.
Participating Forces
Qualified candidates will be recruited by following Central Polices Forces as Assistant Commandant:
- Border Security Forces (BSF).
- Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
- Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
- Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
Selection Procedure
The candidates will be selected on the basis of their overall performance in the examination. The order of events in the examination is as follows:
- Written Tests (Qualifying test for Physical Test)
- Paper I (Paper II will be checked upon qualifying)
- Paper II
- Physical Standards Test (Qualifying test for Interview)
- Interview.
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the written examination results, the physical endurance test, medical test and the interview.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
- Candidate must be an Indian citizen.
Qualifying Examination
Candidate should have a bachelor degree from any recognized university in any discipline.
Candidates appearing for the examination in 2018 are also eligible to apply for the examination.
Age Limits
The age of the candidates should not be less than 20 years and should not exceed 25 years as on 1st August, 2018.
Relaxation in the age criteria will be provided to the reserved category candidates under the rules guideline.

UPSC CAPF 2018 Application Form
UPSC CAPF 2018 application portal is now closed.
Application Fee
The application fee for UPSC CAPF 2018 exam will be Rs. 200. The fee is exempted for female candidates and SC/ST applicants.
The fee can be paid online through:
- Net banking or
- Credit card/Debit card or
- Cash deposit at SBI branches.
Photograph & Signature Specification
- Colored passport sized photograph – JPEG/JPG Format – 3kb-40Kb in size.
- Scanned Signature – JPEG/JPG format – 1kb-40Kb in size.
Application Procedure
The UPSC CAPF 2018 applications had been released on 25th April 2018.
The complete application process involves two major steps:
Part I
The Part I of UPSC CAPF 2018 application contains stages meant for collecting personal information, academic information and other details such as age relaxation criteria etc.
Upon successful registrations, details such as application number, password etc are emailed to candidates.
Candidate now can proceed for the part II of application form.
Part II
The part II of the registration process mainly had 3 steps:
- Application fee payment (if any),
- Documents uploading and
- choosing the exam center for the same.

UPSC CAPF admit card 2018 were released by the concerned authority on 20th July 2018. Applicants are required to download the admit card through the official website portal.

UPSC CAPF Exam Pattern 2018
The UPSC CAPF 2018 is a 3-staged recruitment process, including the following steps:
- Written Test (2 Papers).
- Physical Standard Test.
- Interview/Personality Test.
Written Test
The written test for UPSC CAPF 2018 recruitment includes 2 Papers:
- Paper I: General Ability & Intelligence (Objective Type)
- Paper II: General Studies, Essay & Comprehension (Descriptive Type)
Candidates must score minimum essential marks in Paper I in order to have their Paper II checked.
Paper I – General Ability and Intelligence
Paper I will be 2 hours long Objective-Type test. It will carry a total of 250 marks, printed in both Hindi & English.
Questions will be asked from following domains:
- General Mental Ability.
- General Science.
- Current Events of National and International Importance.
- Indian Polity and Economy.
- History of India.
- Indian and World Geography.
A total of 125 questions will be asked each carrying 2 marks. Negative marking of 1/3rd marks will be made for wrong answers.

Paper II – General Studies, Essay and Comprehension
Paper II is a 3-hours long test. With a total of 200 marks, the test will have 7 questions in total. This paper will be a descriptive type test.
Test will be drawn from following subjects:
- Part A (80 Marks): Essay Writing (either Hindi or English).
- Part B (120 marks): English Language test.

Upon clearing the written papers, candidates will be called for Physical Tests.
After qualifying the physical tests, candidates will be called for Interview or Personality Test carrying a total of 150 marks.
UPSC CAPF 2018 Results
UPSC CAPF 2018 results will be published on the official website of UPSC. The result will be announced sometime around the month of October 2018. The candidates who would have been shortlisted will be required to appear for a physical endurance test followed by a medical test.
