Introduction
The UGC National Eligibility Test (UGC NET December 2019) will be a national level eligibility test for enrollment in Ph.D courses and appointment as Assistant Lecturer. The exam is conducted by NTA (National Testing Authority) twice every year in June and December. The official notification has been released by NTA on 21st August 2019. The registration for UGC NET December 2019 will begin by September 09, 2019. In June 2019, 6,81,718 candidates appeared for the test.

The important dates for UGC NET ’19 are as follows

Date of Examination
UGC National Eligibility Test December 2019 shall be conducted on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th of December 2019. The exam will be conducted in 2 shifts for 5 days to accommodate the large number of applicants.
Mode of Answering
The examination will be an objective type computer based test.
Medium of Examination
UGC NET questions are in Hindi and English both. Candidates can opt for either language.

Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
Candidates are from Indian origins only are allowed to appear in the exam.
Educational Qualification
Candidate must be a master’s degree holder with minimum 55% marks in the chosen subject. The minimum marks for SC/ST/OBC are 50%.
Students pursuing a master’s degree can also appear in the exam. However, the result shall only be valid for 2 years.
Candidates who have passed CSIR UGC JRF before 1990 or any state level test before 2003, need not sit for UGC NET.
Candidates who hold a foreign degree which is equivalent to the degree recognized by UGC are eligible to appear in UGC NET exam.
Age Limit
Candidates appearing for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) must not be older than 30 years as on 01.01.2020.
SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Female candidates have can avail age relaxation of 5 years.
Candidates who have pursued L.L.M. can avail age relaxation of 3 years.
There is no upper age limit for applying for Assistant Lecturer.
How to Apply?
UGC NET December 2019 application portal shall remain active between September 09, 2019 to October 09, 2019.

Admit Cards shall be released by NTA from 9th of November 2019.

Exam Pattern
UGC NET comprises of 2 papers. The first paper is common for all. The second paper is subject specific.
Paper 1
Paper 1 of UGC NET will be a 100 marks exam of 1 hour duration
There will be a total of 50 questions with each carrying 02 marks.
This paper will test the candidate’s ability in the following:
- Comprehension,
- Reasoning ability,
- General awareness, and
- Divergent thinking.
Paper 2
UGC NET Paper 2 will be a 200 marks test of duration 2 hours.
It will comprise of total 100 MCQs. It will cover the syllabus according to the field the candidate has chosen.
