Introduction
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a set of 16 public institutions. Every year a national-level entrance exam is conducted for NIFT admissions by NIFT Delhi. The exam is a gateway for bachelor’s courses in Design (B. Des.) and Fashion Technology (B.F. Tech.), and master’s courses in Design (M.Des.), Fashion Technology (M.F. Tech.) and Fashion Management (M.F.M.). NIFT 2019 will be organised by NIFT, Delhi for all the sixteen campuses around India. NIFT 2019 official notification is likely to be released in October 2018.

NIFT 2019 Exam Date
NIFT 2019 is expected to be conducted in the 4th week of January 2019.
Mode of Answering
NIFT entrance exam 2019 will be a pen/paper mode test.
Medium of Examination
English has been prescribed as the only medium of examination for NIFT entrance exam 2019.
Selection Procedure
The admission procedures at NIFTs depend on the program for which the candidate is applying. As such, there is no standardized or common process that encompasses all NIFT admissions 2019. The table below describes the steps followed in the admission process based on each program.

NIFT 2019 Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for NIFT 2019 based on different quotas is as follows:
UG Courses
Bachelor of Design (B.Des.)
Age Limit
The maximum allowed age for a candidate is 23 years as on 1st October 2018. There is a relaxation period of 5 years in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories.
Educational qualification
The 10+2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized institute
OR
Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in a foreign country which is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.
OR
General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination at the Advanced (A) level/ International Baccalaureate (IB).
OR
3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.
B.F.Tech
Educational Qualifications
For B.F. Tech., the candidate has the additional requirement of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the 10+2 level.
Candidates appearing in the above Qualifying Examinations may also apply.
Age limit
Same as B.Des.

M.Des & M.F.M.
Age Limit
No age limit has bee prescribed for the master’s courses in NIFT 2019.
Educational qualification
Undergraduate Degree in any discipline from any recognized by law institute/University.
OR
An undergraduate Diploma of minimum three years duration from NIFT/NID.
M.F.Tech
Educational Qualification
B.F. Tech. from NIFT.
OR
B.E./B. Tech. from any recognized by law institute/University.
Candidates currently in the final year or final semester of the above Qualifying Examinations may also apply.
Age Limit
Same as M.Des/M.F.M
Foreign Nationals/SAARC/NRI
Fifteen percent (15%) of total seats at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Raebareli, and Srinagar are reserved for admission of Foreign Nationals (whether residing in India or abroad) and Non-Resident Indians. The following scores are evaluated for admission of NRI candidates:

Campus/Programs will be allotted based on the merit list drawn based on the scores obtained by the candidates. A candidate may appear in as many as SAT/GMAT/GRE examination as they wish, prior to 30th April 2019. The highest score among the tests will be taken into consideration for allotment of seat.
NIFT 2019 Application Form
NIFT 2019 Admission forms have been released yet.
Candidates can apply online for NIFT 2019 using the official website’s portal.
NIFT 2019 online forms are expected to be released in the 3rd week of October 2018.
Application Fee
NIFT 2019 application fee can be paid through the official website’s online payment gateway or through a Demand Draft.
The application fee for various categories is tabulated below:

Demand Draft Details
The demand draft is to be issued in favor of “NIFT HO” payable at New Delhi.
Candidates are further required to send the printout of the NIFT Application Form 2019, along with the Demand Draft to the following address:

The candidate must keep the following at hand while filling the NIFT 2019 application form:
- Scanned Photograph of the candidate – Less than 50 KB and in. jpg or .jpeg format only.

Steps for Applying
Follow the steps detailed below to apply online for NIFT 2019:
Step I: Registration
Visit the official website of NIFT and provide the required information (such as the name, date of birth, email ID of the candidate, and so on) to register. The candidate will also need to select the program they wish to enter.
Once registered, the candidate can log in using the credentials provided.
Step II: Upload Documents
The candidate will also be required to upload his/her photograph and signature.
After successfully filling the form, the candidate must verify all the details, to ensure there are no errors.
Step III: Fee Payment
The next step will be the fee payment. The fee can be paid through online mode or DD.
Step IV: Print the completed Application form
The candidates are advised to download the filled-in NIFT 2019 application form and keep a print out for future reference.
NIFT Admit Card 2019
The NIFT 2019 admit cards will be published online from 2nd week of January 2019 onward.
The candidates can download the admit card from the official website and take a print out of the same.
Candidates must bring the hall ticket on the day of examination to be allowed to attend the NIFT 2019 entrance exam.
NIFT 2019 Exam Pattern
Duration
The total duration of the CAT (Creative Ability Test) exam (for B. Des. and M. Des.) will be 3 hours or 180 Minutes.
The duration of the GAT (General Ability Test) exam is different, depending on the courses; it is 2 hours long for B. Des., and M. Des., but 3 hours for B.F. Tech., M.F. Tech., and M.F.M.
Exam Type
The exam will consist of objective-type questions (MCQs) only.
- There is no negative marking in NIFT 2019.

Creative Ability Test (CAT)
The Creative ability test judges the ability of students to create something new and also judges their creativity in using different colors.
For B.F. Tech candidates, GAT will be the final test for selection.
Based on the GAT and CAT scores, the B. Des candidates will be shortlisted and called for the Situation Test.
Based on GAT & CAT score in the case of M. Des and GAT score in the case of M.F. Tech and M.F.M., shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI).
Situation Test
This is a hands-on test only for qualified B. Des. candidates. This will evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability in a given situation with a given set of materials. No additional material will be provided/allowed. The write-up is required to be in English. The evaluation of the test will be done by the jury on the spot. The model will not be preserved for future reference.
Group Discussion and Personal Interview
Shortlisted candidates for master’s programmes in NIFT entrance exam 2019 will be called for a Case Study based Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The GD would comprise of discussion on a case study. A panel of experts will assess the candidates on various parameters such as interpersonal skills, leadership quality, and so on.
In the personal interview for NIFT 2019, the candidates will be evaluated by a panel, on various parameters such as creativity, communication, general awareness and so on.
NIFT Result 2019
The NIFT 2019 results for written exam will be released in the month of March 2019. Based on the scores of the written test, further proceedings will take place as per each course.
The final NIFT result for 2019 is likely to be announced in May/June 2019.
Counselling
The following documents along with the photocopies shall be required during the counselling for verification in NIFT 2019. The original certificates – except the medical certificate – will be returned to the candidate once verified.
- Original certificates of qualifying examination. In case of admission to PG courses, the candidates must bring the original certificate of the qualifying degree examination. In case the candidate has appeared in final semester/ final year then he/she must bring the original mark sheet of all the previous semesters/years.
- Bank Draft(s) of requisite fee in favor of “NIFT HO” must be brought along.
- Proof of date of birth in the form of the Secondary School Mark Sheet and Certificate.
- SC/ST/OBC – Non-Creamy/PWD (supported with requisite Certificate).
- The basis of funding of the tuition fee/certificate of the parents’ income e.g. Income Tax Return of 2018- 19, Salary Certificate of March 2019 etc.
- Certificate of Medical Fitness, signed by a Registered Medical Practitioner.
- In case the result of qualifying examination is yet to be declared, the candidate must bring an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/-.
- An undertaking regarding Anti-Ragging.
- An undertaking regarding refund of fee.
