Introduction
Karnataka PGCET (Post Graduate Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance examination for PG admissions in Karnataka. Conducted once a year, the exam is a gateway for admission to courses such as MBA, MCA and M.E./M. Tech/M. Arch (Full time/ Part-Time). PGCET 2018 Karnataka scores are also useful for lateral entry admissions to 2nd year MCA. The scores are ised by Government, Universities, Private Aided, and Private Un-Aided professional educational institutions located within Karnataka. The official notification for Karnataka PGCET 2018 is expected to release in the month of May. Around 178 institutes will be participating in PGCET 2018 Karnataka.

Karnataka PGCET 2018 Exam Date
Karnataka PGCET 2018 exam is expected to be conducted in the 1st week of August 2018. The exam take place over two days.
One day is secured for the M.E./M. Tech/M. Arch exam. The second day is secured for the MBA, and MCA exams (different slots).
Mode of Answering
PGCET 2018 is a pen/paper mode examination. Candidates are required to fill OMR sheets using blue/black ink ball point pen only.
Medium of Examination
English has been prescribed as the only medium of examination for PGCET 2018 Karnataka.

Age Limit
There is no specific age limit to appear in PGCET 2018.
Residence
Candidates not belonging to Karnataka state are also eligible for the exam. However, they will be considered under the All India Quota.
Educational Qualification
MBA (Full Time)
- The candidate must have minimum three-years Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree from a recognized institution.
- The candidate should have obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in all the three years of graduation combined (45% marks in the qualifying exam in case of SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka candidates).
MBA (Part-Time)
- The candidate must have a three-year Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree from a recognized institution.
- The candidate should have obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in all the three years of graduation combined (45% marks in the qualifying exam in case of SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka candidates).
- In addition to the educational qualifications, a candidate applying to MBA (Part-Time) must have working experience of at least three years as on 31st July 2018. The working experience will only be valid if it started after the degree examination of the candidate.
M.C.A
- The candidate is required to have a graduation from a recognized institution.
- The candidate is also required to have had any of the following subjects as an optional in the qualifying exam – Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Applications, Computer Programming, Business Mathematics and Business Statistics.
- The candidate should have obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in all the three years of graduation combined (45% marks in the qualifying exam in case of SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka candidates).
MCA (Lateral Entry) *
- The candidate must have a three-year Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree in B.C.A or B. Sc (Computer Science/I.T.) from a recognized institution.
- Mathematics at the 10+2 level, or in graduation is also required.
- The candidate should have obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in all the three years of graduation combined (45% marks in the qualifying exam in case of SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka candidates).
*Implies entry to the second year of MCA.
M.E./M. Tech/M. Arch (Full Time)
- The candidate must have cleared the qualifying or equivalent examination (as prescribed by the Competent Authority).
- The candidate should have obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in all the three years of graduation combined (45% marks in the qualifying exam in case of SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka candidates).
- Candidates with a valid GATE score are preferred for admission into these courses. Such candidates are not required to give the PGCET 2018, but they must fulfil all other admission requirements.
M.E./M. Tech/M. Arch (Part-Time)
- The candidate must have cleared the qualifying or equivalent examination (as prescribed by the Competent Authority).
- The candidate should have obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in all the three years of graduation combined (45% marks in the qualifying exam in case of SC/ST & Category I of Karnataka candidates).
- In addition to the educational qualifications, a candidate applying to these courses must have working experience of at least three years as on 31st July 2018. The working experience will only be valid if it started after the degree examination of the candidate.

Candidates can apply only through online application process.
Karnataka PGCET 2018 application forms have been released on 15th May 2018. The last date to apply for the same is 5th June 2018.

Candidates who have cleared the GATE examination will also be required to fill and submit the application form.
Application Fee
Application fee can be paid either by online transaction (Debit/Credit card or Net Banking) or offline method using Bank Challan.

Documents to be Uploaded
Other than a valid email ID and phone number, the applicant must keep scanned copies of his/her signature, recent passport-sized photograph, and left thumb impression at hand while filling the application form.

Karnataka PGCET 2018 Admit Card
The admit card of PGCET 2018 Karnataka will be available online tentatively in the 4th week of June 2018.
The registered candidates will be able to access their hall tickets from the official website. Candidates are advised to keep the admit card safe until the end of the admission process.
Examination Pattern
- Duration: The total duration of the exam will be two and a half hours. However, the allotted time for answering is two hours only.
- Type of Questions: Only objective type questions (MCQs) are asked in the exam.
- Total marks: 100
- Total Number of Questions: 75
- Marking Scheme: The paper for every subject is divided into two parts. In the MCA and M.E./M. Tech/M. Arch exams, Part I carries one mark for each question, and Part II carries two marks for each question. Both the parts of the MBA paper carry one mark each.

Karnataka PGCET 2018 Results
The result of the Karnataka PGCET 2018 will be released in the 3rd week of August on the official website.
The candidates can access it by putting in the login information. Before the release of the result, the university releases the answer key for every paper.
Counselling
KEA will be conducting the counselling of Karnataka PGCET 2018 tentatively from the 4th week of August 2018. The eligible candidates will have to register online for the counselling process. The counselling will be done at the designated centres according to the schedule put up on the official website.

A unique keyword and verification slip will be provided to those candidates whose documents are successfully verified. The unique keyword must be used for choice filling and locking.
