IIM Nagpur : An Over View

Introduction

IIM Nagpur was established in the year 2015 and comes under the umbrella of baby IIMs and is mentored by the administration of IIM Ahmedabad. The college is currently a member of The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and has shown significant growth within a short span of time. Location

Nagpur is located in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra and has very good connectivity by air, railways, and road network from all parts of the country.

The campus is situated at a distance of 9 kms from the nearest airport (Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Nagpur International Airport) and the travel time is approximately 20 minutes to reach the campus.

The closest railway station to the campus is the Nagpur Junction Railway station which is at a distance of 17 kms from campus and takes about 30 minutes to reach the campus.

Admission Procedure

The admission process for the PGP program is similar to all other IIMs, and the students need to take a CAT exam and also should have either completed their Bachelor’s degree or be in their final year of their Bachelor’s degree while writing the CAT Exam.

After taking the CAT exam, aspirants will have to appear for an interview based on shortlisting from various criteria like the performance in the 10^th, and 12^th exams, UG score, and gender diversity factor as well. The weightage for each of these factors varies every year depending upon the candidate pool available to the college.

Selection Criteria for PGP admissions – Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur

There are two stages of selection:

1. Shortlisting candidates based on their CAT Scores, 10^th, and 12th board marks for PI.
2. Final Selection on the basis of PI.

The first basis of shortlisting candidates is through their CAT Score, 10th and 12th board marks. Along with the overall CAT Score, section-wise scores are also considered while shortlisting candidates.

Selection Criteria for the PI process is based on various scores and the weightage for these scores is tabulated as follows:

Final Selection Criteria

For the final selection, the shortlisted candidates are required to take an interview through CAP, and during the interview, the candidate’s academic performance, knowledge of concepts in the bachelor’s degree, and prior work experience (if applicable) will be judged.

The final selection will be made on the following basis:

1. Personal Interview (PI)
2. CAT Score
3. Past Academic Performance (PAP Score)
4. Quality Weighted Work Experience (QWWE) Score
5. Gender Diversity (GDI) Score

These components have the following weightage in the final selection procedure:

Fee Structure

The total fee for the flagship MBA program is INR 18,00,000 for the year 2022-24 and the fee payable at the time of acceptance of the admission in course is Rs 75,000**. The detailed fee structure will be released by the college soon on its website.

** This payment of fee will be adjusted towards the Total fee for Term I becomes  due at the time of programme registration.

The offer acceptance and term fees for all the terms have to be paid online, for that a  payment link will be shared with the candidates for the same.

 Education Loan

Many of the banks offer education loans to support candidates’ in pursuing education at IIM Nagpur. While many students raise the loan after joining the programme.

Candidates are encouraged to finalize the loan arrangements soon after receiving the admission offer letter.

Scholarships

In order to support meritorious students, IIM Nagpur provides the following scholarships for its students. Some of the Government of India scholarships for IIM Nagpur students are mentioned below:

1. Merit Cum Means Scholarship for Professional and Technical Courses

• Scholarships for Top Class Education for students with disabilities
• Top Class Education Scheme for SC Students
• National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students – Scholarship (Formally Top-Class Education for Schedule Tribe Students) – only for scholarships

2. Chief Minister Fellowship Yojana (CMFY) – Jharkhand

3. Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship to SC students – Maharashtra

Also, the institute provides full tuition fee waiver scholarships to 20 students annually in the following categories (10 in each category).

• IIM Nagpur Merit Scholarship – for candidates securing 95%ile or above in CAT.
• IIM Nagpur Need-cum-Merit Scholarship – for candidates with family income less than Rs 5 lakh

Campus

IIM Nagpur has two campus, namely the main campus at MIHAN and the satellite campus at Pune. Currently the permanent campus is under construction and is designed to cater to the needs of nearly 600 students. This campus is spread across 132 acres and has many facilities like hostels, state-of-the-art academic complex, library, administrative block, student hostels, sports complex and faculty housing. Until the construction works for the permanent campus is completed, the college will function from the premises of VNIT Nagpur.

The Pune satellite campus has been designed to accommodate the academic needs of the following batches.

• MBA for Working Professionals (MBA-WP)
• Post Graduate Programme in Transport Management
• Executive Education Programmes (EEP)

It has all sufficient infrastructure like classrooms, offices, laboratories, library, auditorium, discussion rooms, computer rooms, audio-visual facilities, hostel, and dining halls for the students studying on this campus.
