Introduction

IIM Lucknow was the fourth institute to be established by the Government of India, to increase the calibre of management education in India, after the likes of IIM – A, B, &C. IIM-L was established in the year 1984. In the year 2005, apart from the main campus, the institute also began a satellite campus in the Noida region (near Delhi NCR), to expand its reach to all the students who wish to pursue a career in the field of management. IIM lucknow placement also bears distinction with peer institutions.

Location

Lucknow is one of the biggest cities in the state of Uttar Pradesh and is well connected with other major cities in various other states like Noida, Mathura, Kanpur, and Mumbai. Thus, reaching Lucknow is an easy task since it is accessible by airports, railways, and road networks as well.

The campus is situated at a distance of 26 kms from the Chaudhary Charan Singh International airport and the travel time from the airport to campus is approximately 50 minutes.

The main railway station in Lucknow is the Charbagh Railway station and the campus is situated at a distance of 17 kms from campus and takes about 45 minutes to reach the premises of IIM Lucknow.

Ranking

IIM-L was ranked in the 7th place in the NIRF 2021 rankings which was announced recently by the Ministry of Education, GoI, which is 3 places below the 2020 rankings since IIM Lucknow stood at 4th place in the 2020 rankings. IIM Lucknow offers different programs in the field of management under three broad categories namely PGP, PGP for executives, and fellowship programs. These programs are tabulated as under:

Admission Procedure

Like all the other IIM’s, the admission for the flagship PGP program is based on the marks scored by the aspirants in the CAT exam. In the upcoming subsection, we shall look into the admission process of the flagship PGP program that is offered at IIM Lucknow in detail.

The admission procedure is similar for those who look to get into the PGP-ABM and PGP-SM also have the same processes, the only difference being that PGP-ABM and PGP-SM require lower CAT percentile compared to the flagship PGP program.

For taking the CAT exam, the candidate must have either completed their final year or should be in their final year at the time of attempting the exam.

Based on the CAT score, and other factors like 12th, Undergraduate marks, gender diversity, work experience, and academic diversity, the candidates are allocated a certain score and then the shortlist is released for the interviews.

Selection Criteria for PGP admissions – Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML)

There are two stages of selection:

  1. Shortlisting candidates based on their CAT Scores, 12th board marks, and a few other factors for WAT/GD/PI.
  2. Final Selection on the basis of WAT/GD/PI.

The first basis of shortlisting candidates is through their CAT Score, 10th and 12th board marks. Along with the overall CAT Score, section-wise scores are also considered while shortlisting candidates.

The first list of shortlisted candidates for the interview stage is prepared on the basis of the following criteria:

Final Selection Criteria

For the final selection, the shortlisted candidates are required to take an interview, and during the interview, the candidate’s academic performance, knowledge of concepts in the bachelor’s degree, and prior work experience (if applicable) will be judged.

The final selection will be made on the following basis:

  2. Academic performance in 12th and UG
  3. Personal Interview (PI)
  4. Academic and gender Diversity points (awarded for a non-engineering / female candidate)

Campus

IIM Lucknow has one of the biggest campuses across the top IIMs in India, with the campus being spread across a vast area of 185 acres. It has amazing lawns spread across the academic buildings and hostels, making it a beautiful sight for anyone to see.

Apart from the main campus, the institute also has a satellite campus located in Noida exclusively built for the IPMX students.

The main campus has a huge library consisting of over 60,000 learning resources across various genres, built over a 30,000 square foot area. When it comes to the housing facilities, the institute has accommodation facilities for over 500 students and 75 faculties who stay here full time. Also, there is a 24-hour internet access facility for the students to easily research for their academic purposes.

Finally, there are a lot of sporting facilities present on the main campus, which enables students to get into extra-curricular activities and maintain their fitness as well, by playing these games,

IIM Lucknow Placements : Statistics

Like every other year, the consulting domain was the most preferred among the students and nearly 33% of the batch was placed in various companies in the consulting sector.
