Introduction
Union Public Commission Civil Services Exam or UPSC (CSE) 2019 is a national-level exam to recruit personnel in the public sectors in the departments of Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Foreign Services (IFS), Indian Police Services (IPS), Indian Reserve Services, and so on. It is a three-phase recruitment drive, including an Objective-type exam, a Subjective-type exam and an Interview or Personality test. Union Public Service Commission conducts the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2019.

Date of Examination
Civil Services exam 2019 exam (Prelims) will be held on 2nd June 2019.
Civil Services exam 2019 (Mains) shall be held on 20th September 2019.
The Civil Services exam 2019 (PT/PI) will be held in the 1st week of February 2020.
Mode of Answering
UPSC Civil services exam 2019 (Prelims) is objective type (pen-paper) based. Candidates have to fill the OMR sheets.
Main paper shall be a Subjective type paper.
Medium of Examination
UPSC Civil services exam 2019 (Prelims) has English or Hindi as the medium of answering.
The UPSC CSE 2019 (Main) can be answered in any of the 23 recognized languages listed in the constitution of India.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
The candidates from any of the following nationalities are eligible:
- Candidate needs to be a citizen of India,
- Candidates belonging to Nepal or Bhutan,
- Tibetan refugees with permanent settlement in India, who came before 1st January 1962,
- Candidates of Indian origin, who intend to settle permanently in India and migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, East African countries of Uganda, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia.
Educational Qualification
A graduation degree from any recognised College/University,
OR
a degree through distance education or from any of the open universities.
Applicants who have passed the final exams of ICAI, ICWAI, ICSI, or MBBS but have not completed the internship are also eligible.
Age Limit
Applying candidates must be least 21 years old on or before 31st August 2019 but shall not exceed the upper age limit of 32 years on the same date.

Note: If a candidates appears for any of the papers in Prelims, it shall be counted as an attempt. If a candidate applies but fails to appear for the exam, her attempt is not counted.
Already serving Candidates
Candidates currently serving as an IAS/IFS officer to Govt. of India are not eligible to appear for the UPSC Civil Services exam 2018.
How to apply Online for Civil Services Exam 2019?
UPSC IAS/IFS 2019 application portal is currently closed.
The application forms were available via online medium only.
Application portal for UPSC Civil Services Exam 2019 was open from 19th February 2019 to 18th March 2019.
Application Fee
Application fee for General and OBC candidates is INR 100.
SC/SCT/PH and Female candidates are exempted from the same.
Fees can be paid via following modes:
- Credit/Debit Cards
- Net Banking
- In cash via SBI Bank Challans.
Documents to be Uploaded
- Scanned Photograph | Dimensions: 110 x 140 px | Size: 3-40 kb | JPG format.
- Scanned Signature | Dimensions: 140 x 110 px | Size: 1-40 kb | JPG format.

Every UPSC application form involves following two parts:
- Part I
- Part II.
Admit Card
Admit card for UPSC Civil services exam 2019 (Main) has started releasing e-admit card from 28 August 2019. Card will be issued up to 29 September 2019.
Admit card can be downloaded through following link :

However, for the Main examination, hall tickets shall be available from the 1st week of September 2019.
The personal interview admits will be available during the 2nd week of January 2020.
Admit cards will be published on the official website only. Candidates must bring a printout of the admit card along with a valid identity proof such as Aadhaar Card, driving license, pan card etc. to the examination centre.
Examination Pattern
UPSC Civil services exam 2019 shall involve 3-phases as a part of the selection process.
- Phase I – Preliminary Test
- Phase II – Main Test
- Phase III – Interview Stage
Phase I: Preliminary Test
The prelims exam will be a objective-type test. It will be a pen-paper based offline test comprising of 2 papers.
Both the papers will be of 2 hours each. Blind Candidates are given extra 20 minutes, for each paper.
A total of 400 marks are at stake in prelims examination.

A minimum of 33% marks are required in General Studies Paper – II (CSAT), to qualify for the mains.
There is a negative marking of 1/3rd marks for an incorrect response.
Phase II: Main Examination
The UPSC Civil Services Exam 2019 (Main) consists of nine papers out of which two are qualifying in nature and rest are counted for ranking.
All of these shall be subjective type papers with a duration of 3 hours each.

Candidate must obtain 25% marks (75 marks) in Paper A and B for qualifying.
Phase III: (Personality Test/ Personal Interview)
This is the final stage of the requirement process. This round will be an interview taken by UPSC Board members with a total of 275 marks at stake.
This round tests the overall personality of the candidate and he/she is asked questions on current affairs, hobbies, interests, situation analysis etc.
The total marks scored in Mains and Personality Test are used in calculating the final rank of a candidate.

Results
The final results for UPSC Civil Services exam 2019 will be declared during May 2020. Results will be published online on the official website.
Civil Services Exam 2019 Results
The Prelims results will be published on 2nd week June 2018.
The UPSC Civil Services Exam 2019 (Main) results will be available in January or February 2020.
The final consolidated results and merit list will be available in June or July 2020.
