What is JNU CEEB?
CEEB 2019 or Common Entrance Examination for Biotechnology is an all India exam conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University for admitting students into various postgraduate programs related to Biotechnology. CEEB scores are taken into consideration for JNU Biotechnology admissions, admitting students into courses such as M.Sc (Biotechnology), M.Sc (Agri), M.Tech (Biotechnology) and M.V.Sc courses. The CEEB 2019 application forms will be released by September 2018 and applications shall open by mid-September 2018. The exam is expected to be conducted along with JNUEE 2018, in the month of December 2018.

CEEB 2019 Exam date
The CEEB 2019 exam is likely to be held in the last week of December 2018.
Mode of Answering
CEEB 2019 will be a written test and will be conducted in a single session.
Medium of Examination
Based on the previously conducted exams, CEEB 2019 too would be conducted in English.
Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for CEEB 2019 is as follows:
Nationality
Applicants of both Indian Citizenship and Foreign nationals can apply for CEEB 2019.
Qualifying examination
M.Sc Biotechnology
The candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in either
- Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy or Engineering/Technology or
- B.Sc in Physician Assistant Course (10+2+3/4) or,
- MBBS or BDS
with at least 55% marks.
M.Sc (Agri) and M.V.Sc
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree of 10+2+3/4/5 pattern with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade point in the concerned subjects.
M.Tech Biotechnology
The candidates must have a 10+2+4 pattern with at least 60% marks in Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy/Engineering/Technology in the following fields:
- Pharmaceutical Technology
- Chemical Engineering/Technology
- Biochemical Engineering
- Leather Technology
- Chemistry/Biotechnology
- Biomedical Engineering
- Industrial Biotechnology
- Food Technology
- Diary Technology
- Food Engineering
OR
A 10+2+3+2 pattern Master’s in the following fields:
- Biotechnology
- Life Sciences
- Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry
- Microbiology, Genetics
- Biophysics
- Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics
Institute and branch specific eligibility criteria are also present. More information shall be provided after publication of the official notification.
Final year students of the above courseswhose result will be declared before commencement of admission for academic year 2019-20 can also apply for CEEB 2019.
Age limit
Candidates should be more than 20 years of age to apply for CEEB 2019.
Number of attempts available
The exam is conducted only once every year, so the candidate can appear only once per year.

CEEB 2019 applications forms haven’t been released yet, but it is expected to open by 2nd or 3rd week of September 2018.

Application Fee
The examination fee for general and OBC candidates is expected to be Rs.1000 (plus GST). For SC/ST and PWD candidates, fee is expected to be Rs. 500. Foreign Nationals will be required to pay either USD 40 or INR 2640.

Documents to be uploaded
Scanned, clear photo, with preferably a white background should be uploaded. The size of the photo should be 150 x 200 (20-50kb).
Scanned signature, on a white background, should be uploaded. The size of this signature should be 140 x 60 (10-20kb).
Application Process
- Self registration
First time applicants should apply as a “New User”. After reading the instructions carefully, applicants should accept the declaration and proceed.
- Citychoice
Applicants should enter 3 preferred test cities. This data cannot be changed once submitted.
- Password generation
Once all the data is submitted, a password will be generated. The copy of the same will be sent to the applicants email ID and registered mobile number.
- Payment
Payment can be made via online mode.
Examination Pattern
M.Sc Biotechnology
CEEB 2019 will be of 180 minutes or 3 hours long. There will be no breaks provided in between.
The test shall comprise of 2 parts: Part A & Part B.
Part A
Part A shall consist of 60 MCQs based on 10+2 level on subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
Each question shall carry 1 mark while a deduction of 0.5 marks will be made for every wrong answer.
Part B
Shall comprise of 60 MCQs from subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and (e.g., Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology).
Each question shall carry 3 marks, however, a deduction of 1 mark will be made for incorrect answer.

M.Sc Agri Biotechnology and M.V.Sc
CEEB 2019 will be of 180 minutes or 3 hours long. There will be no breaks provided in between.
The complete test shall comprise of 2 parts:
Part A
Part A shall consist of MCQ questions of 10+2 level on Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology.
Each question shall carry 1 mark while a deduction of 0.5 marks will be made for every wrong answer.
A total of 60 MCQs will be presented in the Part A of the exam.
Part B
Similar to part A, this part shall also be a MCQ type test. A total of 100 MCQs will be presented out of which 60 must be attempted.
Each Correct answer shall fetch 3 marks while a deduction of 1 mark will be made for incorrect answers.

M.Tech Biotechnology

Similar to other branches, M.Tech (Biotech) shall also comprise of 2 parts:
- Technology Stream.
- Life Sciences Stream.
Technology Stream (to be attempted by B.E or B.Tech candidates)
The test will comprise of 3 parts:
- Part A: Basic Engineering & technology.
- Part B: Physics/Chemistry/Maths
- Part C: Fundamental Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Informatics.
Life Science Stream (to be attempted by M.Sc candidates)
The test will comprise of 3 parts:
- Part A: Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Immunology).
- Part B: Physics/Chemistry
- Part C: Maths, Computer & Information Sciences.
CEEB 2019 Admit Card
CEEB 2019 admit cards will be available tentatively from 1st week of December 2019. Candidates can download once it is available in the website.
The applicants need to print the admit cards and produce it during the day of the exam, along with 2 copies of the photo.
Admit cards won’t be sent as a hard copy by mail, but a notification of the availability shall be intimidated via email provided by the applicant.
CEEB 2019 Results
The CEEB 2019 results will be made available online on their website tentatively in the month of March 2019. The candidates can download their scorecards from the website using their respective login credentials.
Along with the scorecard, JNU will also release an all India merit list following which the shortlisted candidates will be allowed to select their preferred institutes.
Counseling Procedure
An online counselling OF CEEB 2019 will tentatively be conducted in April 2019. Admission will be via centralized counseling or as per the admission notification of respective state government. The candidates will be allotted college, according to their rank in the merit list. The same merit list will be sent to various management colleges for the allotment of seats through the central counseling.

Can an engineering undergraduate attempt life science stream in JNU CEEB exam for M.Tech in BT?
Is there any compulsion that he must attempt Engineering and Technolgy stream in the exam?
No, it is not compulsory but engineering stream is more relevant for b.tech students
There is no such compulsion. You can opt for any stream you want. I am a M.Tech CEEB qualifier.
