  Introduction

International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT – Hyderabad) is a Hyderabad based IT – research institute. It was instituted in 1998 on a non-profit PPP model (public-private-partnership). Since the beginning, IIIT Hyderabad has remained a pivotal figure in the engineering universe. Due to its indispensable contribution to higher education, govt. of India declared it as an “Institute of National Importance”.

Myth Regarding IIIT-Hyderabad

Since IIIT Hyderabad holds the same initials as the centrally – funded IIITs, students often have a misconception that IIIT Hyderabad is also a CFTI (Centrally funded technical institute). This misconception leads to another assumption i.e. IIIT Hyderabad will be a part of central counseling like NITs and IIITs. Well, all of these facts are just assumptions.

IIIT Hyderabad is not like the other IIITs. As mentioned before, it stands for International Institute of Information Technology and not Indian Institute of Information Technology. The later are the centrally funded like NITs whereas IIIT Hyderabad is funded by state, center, and industries. Another important aspect of this conversation is its admission process. Unlike the centrally funded IIITs, IIIT Hyderabad involves admission through an institute – level counseling conducted by it. Because of this separate counseling, a separate application form is also required for the admissions.

IIIT Hyderabad, as mentioned before, holds a distinguished stature of its own in the engineering world.

The institute was ranked at the #13 spot by Outlook magazine in 2015. It was also named the 2^nd best private engineering institute in the country by Mint.

Admissions Procedure

B.Tech & Dual Degree Programs 

Admissions at IIIT Hyderabad are not through the central counseling held for NITs and IIITs. Every year a separate counseling is held at IIIT Hyderabad for B.Tech admissions. To participate in this process, candidates are required to apply separately via IIIT Hyderabad official website.

Admission at IIIT Hyderabad for UG courses is through one of the following methods.

1. Admission on the basis of JEE Main Score (Score not AIR).
2. Admission on the basis of performance in Olympiad, NTSE, and KVPY.
3. Admission for foreign candidates is through DASA.
4. Admission to CLD is through a separate entrance exam conducted by IIIT Hyderabad itself.

M.Tech/P.hD/M.S Programs

Fee Structure

B.Tech Program

The fee structure for UG courses is based on the admission method followed. It is different for students admitted through JEE Main 2017 & DASA.

One time caution money (Refundable) is Rs. 10,000.

Text Book charges = Rs. 1800.

Hostel Fees

Boys Hostel = Rs. 26,750/- per year.

Girls Hostel = Rs. 25,400/- per year.

Mess Charges = Rs. 15,000/- per semester.

M.Tech Programs

The tuition fee per semester for M.Tech program is Rs. 1,00,000.
Admission fee = Rs. 10,000.

Hostel Charges

Mess Charges = Rs. 15,000 per semester.

Campus

IIIT Hyderabad is stationed in the Gacchibowli area of Hyderabad city. The institute is spread over a 66 – acre green campus. The campus is fully–residential with every bit of facility required in an institute of such a stature. The campus has ATMs, banks, sports centers, labs, high-speed internet, hostels, canteens and all the facilities a student aspires for.

Laboratories

The institute has one of the finest computer labs in the country, with a PC student ratio of 2:1. A student residing at the campus can access these labs whenever he wants to.

Library

IIIT Hyderabad boasts of a central library with each & every medium of information available in it. As of 2015, the library has a subscription of over 150 journals & magazines for its readers.

Sports

IIIT Hyderabad campus is full of great sports facilities ranging from indoor games such as carom to various outdoor games like football. The campus has a cricket ground, basketball court, Badminton court, TT tables etc.

Gym

The campus also has a gym with a trainer for students.
