Introduction


Central Teacher Eligibility Test or CTET is a national level entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). CTET is used to recruit teachers for Classes I to VIII of central government schools like Kendriya  Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas etc. CTET 2018 will likely be held only once, unlike previous years in which it was held twice a year. CTET 2018 will consist of two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is for candidates who wish to teach Classes I to V and Paper II is for those who wish to teach Classes VI to VIII. If a candidate clears both the papers, he/she is eligible to teach students from Classes I to VIII.

CTET 2018 Exam Date


CTET 2018 will most likely be held only once in 2018 in the month of February.

Medium of Examination


CTET 2018 will have a bilingual paper and thus shall be conducted in both ENGLISH and HINDI. 

CTET 2018 Type of Examination


According to a public notice, CTET 2017 shall be the first CTET exam to be conducted ONLINE (Computer-based test).

Therefore, it is expected that CTET 2018 would also be a Computer-based test.

CTET 2018 Eligibility 


For Classes I – V


Minimum Qualifications for teachers of Classes I to V have to be ANY ONE of the following:

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known).

OR

  • Passed Senior Secondary exam (or its equivalent) with minimum 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002.

OR

  • Cleared Senior Secondary exams (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed)

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks. A candidate must be either appearing or passed in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).

OR

  • Candidates who are Graduate and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) are also eligible for CTET 2018.

For Classes VI – VIII


  • Applicants who are Graduated and passed/appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) are eligible.

OR

  • Graduated with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).

OR

  • Graduation in any discipline with 45% or more marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard.

OR

  • Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

OR

  • Cleared Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed.

OR

  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education). 

Candidates belonging to reserved categories, such as SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled, can avail relaxation up to 5% in the minimum qualifying marks. 

CTET 2018 Exam Pattern


CTET 2018 will a Computer-based objective type test containing Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). 

Each right answer will fetch one mark and there will be no negative marking.

There will be two papers of CTET exam 2018 as mentioned below: 

Paper I

Candidates who want to be a teacher for classes I to V must take only Paper I. Duration of this paper will be 2.5 hours. The paper shall have 150 questions divided equally into 5 sections.

The language I section will focus on the medium of instruction while language II section focuses on technical aspects of the language.

Paper II

Candidates who want to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII must take Paper II. Duration of this paper will be 2.5 hours. The paper consists of 150 questions in 4 sections as given below:

CTET 2018 Application


The CTET 2018 application portal is currently closed. It is expected to be open by December 2017.

Application Fee


The application fee for CTET 2018 examination shall be Rs 600 (Rs 300 for SC/ST/PH) for applicants choosing to appear for Paper I or II only.

However, candidates choosing to appear for both the papers shall pay Rs 1000 (Rs. 500 for SC/ST/PH).

  • e-challan or
  • Credit card/debit card.

Photograph and Signature Specifications


  • Photograph – JPEG format; Dimensions: 3.5 x 4.5; Size: 4-100 KB.
  • Signature – JPEG format; Size: 1-25 KB.

Registration Procedure


  • The candidate needs to login to the official CTET website https://ctet.nic.in and click on the ‘Apply Online’ tab.
  • Then the candidate is redirected to an application form in which the candidate needs to fill all the details.
  • The photograph and signature then need to be scanned and uploaded.
  • The application fee can be paid via e-challan or debit card/credit card.
  • The confirmation page must be printed for future reference purposes.

CTET 2018 Syllabus


The detailed syllabus for CTET 2018 has not been released yet. For detailed syllabus, it is advised to refer the NCERT subject books of Classes I to VIII.

CTET 2018 Admit Card


CTET 2018 admit card should be available in January 2018, 30 days before the actual exam date.The admit cards can be downloaded from the official website. The admit card is mandatory for appearing in the examination and strictly not transferable.

CTET 2018 Results


CTET 2018 results are expected in 45 to 60 days after the examination date i.e. by April 2018. CTET Scores are valid for a period of 7 years from the date of result declaration. Candidates who qualify will be further called for interview.
