Introduction


NIFT (National Institute Of Fashion Technology) is a group of 16 public fashion institutes located in various parts of India. Every year NIFT conducts a common entrance exam for admission to these 16 NIFTs. This common entrance exam is a doorway to all UG & PG courses available at these 16 institutes and is organized by NIFT, Delhi every year. NIFT 2018 is likely to commence from 1st week of November with the release of official notification.

Selection Procedure


The admission procedures at NIFTs depend on the program for which the candidate is applying. As such, there is no standardized or common process that encompasses all NIFT 2017 admissions. The table below describes the steps followed in the admission process based on each program.

Type of Examination


NIFT 2018 entrance exam shall be an OFFLINE examination.

NIFT 2018 Eligibility


Eligibility criteria for NIFT admissions 2018 varies depending on the course selected by the candidates.

UG Courses


Bachelor of Design (B.Des.)


10+2 Exam: Candidate should have passed the 10+2 exam from any recognized board in the country.

Age Limit: Applicants should not be older than 23 years (28 years for SC/ST/PHP) of age measured on 1st October 2017.

Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.)

10+2 Exam: Candidates must have passed the 10+2 exam from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects.

Age Limit: Same As B.Des.

Postgraduate Courses


Masters of Design (M.Des)

Age Limit: No limit exists for NIFT 2018 PG admissions.

Graduation: Candidate must be a graduate from a recognized university in India.

OR

Candidate should have a diploma in Undergraduate Design or Undergraduate 3-year diploma from NIFT/NID only.

Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech)

Age Limit: No limit exists for NIFT Admissions 2018 (PG).

Graduation: Applicant should be B.E/B.Tech. from a recognized university.

OR

Candidate must have completed B.F.Tech from NIFT.

Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M)

Graduation: Obtained a graduation degree from any recognized university/institute.

OR

Candidate should have an Undergraduate diploma of 3-years from NIFT/NID.

Candidates in the final year of study/12th std. are also eligible for NIFT 2018 admissions. 

Candidates must submit their final degree on or before 30th September 2018 to the NIFT where the candidate has been admitted. 

How to Apply?


NIFT 2018 application portal is closed now. 

Aspirants of NIFT admissions 2018 have to apply via an ONLINE form available at the official website.

No offline applications will be accepted.

Application Fees


The application fee for NIFT 2018 is detailed below in the table present.

The prescribed registration fee can be paid online through a payment gateway provided using

  1. Credit Card/Debit Card issued by banks in India
  2. Internet Banking.
  3. Demand Draft.
Payment through Demand Draft

The application fee can be paid through demand drafts bearing following details:-

Favor of: NIFT HO.
Payable at: New Delhi.

Demand draft along with application form must be sent to the following address:

NIFT 2018 Admit Card


NIFT 2018 admit cards were released on 9th January 2018 (01:00 PM IST) onwards on the official website of NIFT.

Admit cards can only be downloaded from the official website. No, admit cards will be sent via post.

NIFT 2018 Exam Pattern


The exam duration is 3 hours i.e, 180 minutes for each GAT(General Ability Test) and CAT(Creative Ability Test). Both exams will have MCQ type questions only.

General Ability Test (GAT)


GAT will be a Multiple choice Question test of 3-hours duration. Depending on the course applied for, the sections of the question paper will differ. The table below shows different sections for different courses applied.

Creative Ability Test (CAT)


The Creative ability test judges the ability of students to create something new and also judges their creativity in using different colors.

Situation test


This is the second stage in NIFT 2018 admissions.

This test is meant for testing candidate’s ability to create something new from a given set of materials & props.

The scores of both the tests are used to calculate the merit of each candidate. This merit is further used to choose candidates for next round (if any). Also, the merit is given weight (as mentioned before) in calculating the final merit.
