Introduction

MHT CET or the Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test is a state level entrance exam held annually in the state of Maharashtra. The exam is a common entrance exam for admission to B.Tech/B.Pharma/Pharma.D courses in the state of Maharashtra.

Before the introduction of JEE (Main) in 2013, engineering admissions in the state of Maharashtra were purely based on MHT CET scores. However, after 2013 MHT CET for engineering was scrapped, resulting in admissions based on JEE (Main) score only. But due to widespread criticism, Maha state govt. rolled back the admission process, reinstating the common entrance test from 2016 onwards. Hence, the MHT CET got reinitiated from 2016.

As per stats, every year nearly 1 lakh engineering aspirants seek admission to various engineering colleges of the state. The article focuses on MHT CET 2017 for engineering only.
