Introduction
VIT University Vellore is a privately-held deemed university located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. The university began its journey as an engineering college in 1984 with 3 branches under the Madras University. With excellence as its backbone, the college gained deemed university status in 2001. Today, VIT University offers 20 UG and 34 PG programs and is described as one of the country’s finest universities in engineering. Taking this tradition forward, the university inaugurated a new campus at Chennai in 2010. Two more campuses were added to the VIT family at Amaravathi (VIT-AP) and Bhopal in 2016 and 2017 respectively. This article predominantly covers VIT University Vellore campus.

Where is VIT University Located?
VIT University is located in the city of Vellore. Vellore city lies between 2 major cities of south India – Chennai (145km) and Bangalore (200 Km). Though Vellore has a great railway and road connectivity, it still lacks air connectivity.
The nearest railway station to VIT University is the Katapadi Railway Station, distanced at 2.4 Km from the Campus.
The Vellore bus stand, however, is distanced around 5.8 km from the VIT University campus.

Admission Procedure
B.Tech Admissions
Admission to VIT University’s B.Tech program at Vellore & Chennai campus is through VIT Engineering entrance exam (VITEEE).
VITEEE is an annual entrance exam, held across various centers in India, for admission to UG programs at VIT University. Every year nearly 0.2 million candidates appear for the exam.
BCA/B.Sc (Computer science/Hotel & Catering/Multimedia & Animation)/B.Com/BBA Admissions
There is no entrance exam for admission to these courses. Admissions are solely based on the previous academic performances of the candidates in the 10th/SSC (Secondary School Certificate) and 12th/HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) levels.
B. Arch Admissions
B. Arch admissions at VIT University are through NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) scores.
Law School Admissions (LLB)
For LLB admissions at VIT University, aspirant’s performance in SSC (10th), HSC (12th), and law entrance exams is considered.
M. Tech/MBA/MCA/M. Sc/Ph.D Admissions
Masters admissions at VIT University are through VIT Masters Entrance Examination (VITMEE).
